A Southern Affair

Yesterday was the BEST day EVER. Yesterday, I put on my wedding dress, had my hair + makeup done, and frolicked in the most beautiful field for hours while my photographer snapped away! Yesterday, I had my bridal portraits taken!

Generally a southern wedding tradition, bridal portraits have definitely gained popularity in recent years. Historically, the bride’s family would arrange for their daughter to be photographed before being presented to her groom, as a rite of passage and a keepsake for the family. The portrait of the bride would then be displayed next to the guest book at the wedding, and afterwards in the family’s home {usually on the mantel}.

However, today bridal portraits are just another fun opportunity to wear your dress and feel like a blissful bride! Even if they are not one of your family’s traditions, you should still consider having a bridal session as a dress rehearsal for your wedding day. Not only are they ridiculously fun, portraits are a great trial run to see if you want to change anything for the big day {more or less makeup, your bouquet size, your hair style, posture, etc}.
Here is a sneak peek of the inspiration board that my fabulous wedding planner designed for my “Southern Affair” bridal shoot!

And here is a little teaser for y'all, shot by my amazing photographer Dianne Personett...
