I need iPhone help!

I finally made the switch!

Although I've gone through about 6 blackberries in the past 2 years, I finally decided to get an iPhone this time around. However, now I am terrified of breaking it. I went ahead and purchased insurance {let's be honest, the odds are against me}, but now I am on the hunt for a cute durable case.

Any suggestions? I've heard great things about Otterbox. What sort of case do you use?

  1. YAY! You'll love it ... honestly a life-changer.

I know Otterbox is the creme da la creme if you are talking safety. I have a case that I actually picked up randomly at The Container Store that has a silicone cover but then a hard cover that snaps on the outside of it. So, it's not just rubber, but it has that extra give if it gets dropped!

I love the look of an iPhone with no cover or an iPhone with a very slim cover, but I'm not much of a gambler when it comes to that :)

  2. Congrats on the switch to iPhone! You'll love it :) I definitely lean towards the more gel/rubber covers. They just seen to have a little more cushion to them. I've had a few hard shell/plastic cases, but they've all cracked when I've dropped my phone. Kind of a bummer, but I guess they served their purpose and protected my phone, huh? But, the hard cases are usually cuter than the rubber, so it's a win-lose situation. Let us know what you get and if you find anything good!

  3. Oh, and I've found a few goodies at Target lately. The Mecca of all stores. Go figure.

  4. The otterboxes are very popular, but they definitely make your phone feel much bigger/bulkier! Tough to fit it in your pocket, etc. I have one made by Belkin that is purple on the sides and pink on the back from Best Buy. I love it!

  6. I have a Otterbox. There are three different sizes of Otterboxes that you can get -- I got the middle size and can still fit my phone in my pocket. If you're worried about it not fitting, I'd go with the smallest size. I have had my Otterbox eversince I've had my phone (two years) and I've had no problems. If you choose to get an Otterbox, check out Overstock.com -- that's where I got mine and paid half the price. :)

  7. I love the Kate Spade Iphone cases. Very cute and sturdy. A little pricey but worth it!

  8. My husband uses the otterbox...he works in a construction zone for a living. :) So yes, it is durable..but girly and cute, not at all. I have a basic black one by INCIPIO that has really protected my iphones- but I'm looking at a Kate Spade one- they protect well and are so cute!

  9. I'm not sure if you got insurance through your phone company but if you did, cancel it and go get AppleCare through the Apple store. Phone insurance charges you $200 if something happens to your phone and Applecare only charges $50. I learned the hard way :)

  10. I have a gel/rubber cover and it has been great for when I've dropped my phone. I also got insurance as well because I drop my phone all the time!

  11. Kate Spade are the cutest. Don't get a Lilly one, because the colors rub off!

  12. I have a life proof case! It is pink and gray so cute but definitely plain! However it is durable and waterproof! I love it and it is slimmer
    Than my otter box case!
I got it at best buy!
    Good Luck

  13. Life proof cases are the way to go! Not as bulky as an otter box, but they are shockproof and WATERPROOF. :) perfect for the pool/beach/summer!

  14. You will love the iPhone, my friend. I use an Incipio case. It has a rubber inner case, with a hard shell to snap on top. It works for me without the bulkiness of the Otterbox! I got it at my local Verizon store :)

  15. I'll have to look again, but a company (almost positive its otterbox) is coming out with a line of cute monogrammed otterbox cases, so they are still pretty but actually protect your phone! Best of both worlds.

  16. I love my pink iphone case by eyn. It has a wrist string, compartment that opens in the back to hold money and credit cards, and even a mirror, too. It's perfect for the pool and beach. You can buy it from Amazon, but I bought it directly from their site. Good luck picking one from all the suggestions.

  17. I'd say go with the Otterbox or Life proof. Lipstick shades has monogrammed otterbox cases and all of their designs are super cute. I teach innercity and my phone was stolen from my desk drawer on the second day of school and when it was recovered the screen was smashed. I have insurance but always recommend taking it to the Apple store first if something happens - they are usually really good about working with you.

  18. To be honest, I've had two otterboxes and while yes, they protect your phone like a firefighter and a baby kitten, they are SO big and bulky. There aren't many times I put my phone in my pocket but with the otterbox, it's impossible. Plus-it's really hard to get on and off...which is why I got rid of mine. (I would have to take it off to fit in my arm workout band and broke a nail almost EVERY darn time I tried to take it out!)

One of the best, most protective cases I've had (though it's not like the otter box at all) is a CaseMate. I think it's the "tough" line so it has a rubber casing that covered all sides and the back but then a plastic piece that fits over it and makes it look cuter. I got mine on Zazzle with a personalized image.

Just my two thoughts! Congrats on "the big switch"! lol

  20. I got mine from DecorativeDesignWKS on Etsy. They are gorgeous and durable.

  21. I have an Incase case from amazon and I love it! Its hard but not bulky and it just fits around the edges on the front...I didn't want one that was thicker than the front of the phone- I think it feels weird when you talk on it. I have heard great things about the lifeproof cases too and they don't seem as bulky as the otterboxes.

  22. I definitely recommend an Otterbox! I bought mine on Ebay. While I was in the shower the other day, it vibrated off of the bathroom counter and onto the tile floor face down...no damage what-so-ever. I've also dropped it into a cup of beer and had no issues!

  23. I have the Tough Case through Case Mate. It comes with 1 screen protector (a clear one, not a matte one), a silicone case then a hard case around that. I custom-designed mine with a picture I liked. It has worked SO great, as I scratched up my last phone.

I originally ordered one of those cute monogrammed cases, but it never fit right and did not protect. The company used the "barely there" Case Mate and I would NOT recommend that one.

Hope you find one you like!

  26. First off... congrats on the iPhone!! I was anti-iPhone for quite sometime now... until I used a friends for a day and it was love at first touch. Hehe!! I'm now a loyal Apple user.

I would suggest the Survivor iPhone case or Otterbox. I think they are the most sturdy of the iPhone case family. Oh!! Also the LifeProof case and that one seems to be the least bulky. I typically just use a bumper case and try to be very careful!! I can't handle the bulky cases. Good luck!! :)

  27. I recommend the Otterbox (although that's not what I have haha). I have a regular, monogrammed case from Lipstick Shades which I love but I've dropped it a handful of times and it's starting to show wear on the edges. I hear Lipstick Shades is now selling monogrammed Otterbox cases! I would definitely look into those!

  28. I love my Speck case. I have a white and pink one, and it's both durable and girly! Agree with the other posters about Lilly cases - they also have too small of a camera hole so all your pictures look blurry.

  29. I just came across your post...so I am sure you'be already made a decision on your case....but if you want protection (who doesn't, right?) And cuteness....Boutique Me (boutiqueme.net) has just announced their new Personalized LifeProof cases. I personally use Lifeproof, its the best!! And to have a custom one??? They are adorable!!! Best wishes!
