Painted Pumpkins

Thank you all for the sweet birthday wishes yesterday. I definitely felt the love! Y’all are the best!

On to pumpkins…

This fall marks mine and Matt’s third
pumpkin season together {and our first married fall}. In fact, carving pumpkins
was one of our first dates and we had
a fall wedding, so this season is full of warm memories!

Sticking to last year’s “painting” theme, we decided
to paint our address on a pumpkin rather than carve it. You can read about our 2011
monogrammed painted pumpkin {here}!  Not only is
painting easier, an uncarved pumpkin can last you all the way through
Thanksgiving.

And I have to be honest with you, this season’s
pumpkin will last us for years to come because
we picked it from…Michaels {gasp!}.
Yes, we chose to paint a plastic pumpkin instead of a real one. But doesn’t it
look real?!?! Plus it was 40% off, so it was even cheaper than a real one.

*Note:
Don’t think this is any indication of us switching to an artificial Christmas
tree {we could never!}!

Anyway, on to the tutorial…

Step 1: Type up your last name, address,
monogram, etc. in a word document on your computer. I used century font, size
300. Print off your word document and carefully cut out your numbers {or
letters}. Tape your letters to your pumpkin and trace them with a pen.

Step 2: Using black acrylic paint, paint
your pumpkin with 1-2 coats of paint!

Step 3: Let it dry completely.

Step 4: Place your pumpkin on your front
porch and add a few extra festive decorations!

How
are you planning to decorate your pumpkins this year?
