Five on Friday: A Link-up!

It's my favorite day of the week - Friday! I look forward to this link-up all week long. Thanks to everyone who has been participating! It's been so fun reading your posts and "meeting" you! I've found some crazy amazing blogs through the link-up.

So here we go...

- ONE - Remember how I said last week that I was going to get over my sewing fear and finally open up my dusty sewing machine? Well I did it! I loved it. And I may or may not have stayed up until 1 a.m. finishing my first project - a fiesta garland for our party next month.
I picked up this little folding table from Walmart for $8 so I didn't have to use my coffee table.
More details on the fiesta banner to come post-party...
- TWO - You know those gorgeous ferns hanging from our porch {here}? Well, I killed them - and kind of on purpose. You see, this cute lil family of birds came to live in them and we didn't have the heart to bother them by shoving a watering can into their house, so we let them turn brown and crispy. I'm sure our neighbors hated us for awhile. They were such an eyesore. Anyway, the birds either had their babies and flew away, or they thought their house was so ugly that they move somewhere else. Regardless, I've been on a fern revival mission the past few weeks. I found an awesome fern pin and it's been working like a charm...
The trick: every couple of days submerge your ferns in a large bucket filled with 1/2 cup of epsom salts and 3 gallons of water until the soil stops bubbling. Then hang up to drip dry.

- THREE - Angel Food Bundt Cake with chocolate and butterscotch chips. Yep, this happened this week! It's not the prettiest cake I've made but it sure is delicious. Next time I think I'll throw the chips in half way through the baking process so they don't immediately sink to the bottom {top}.
- FOUR - A little "Welcome Gift" for my newest coworker's first day!
Nail polish, EOS chapstick, my favorite Sharpie pens & gum - all in a cute mason jar tumbler.

- FIVE -  We are camping in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains this weekend! One of my top 5 favorite things to do {and the reason why I moved to NC}, I am hoping the rain holds up for us.

S'more granola, campfire, stars, fresh air and lots of happy trees? YES - take me there now!
Our snacks are packed and ready to go!

S’more Granola: granola, mini marshmallows & dark chocolate M&Ms!
Wanna join  Darci, April, Natasha and I on the Friday fun? You can link-up on any of our four blogs every Friday! All you have to do is... 1.)  Write  your post about five things you're lovin' this week (or any five things you want to share!). 2.)  Share the logo above on your blog and link back. 3.)  Link-up at the bottom of the post so some new readers can check out your five things and say hello!

    1. Thanks friend! Oh yes, truly a labor of love. I think I cut 2,500 paper rectangles for (2) 20 foot garlands!

And the photos are a lot of work, but totally worth it! :)

  20. I love that garland. I never think of using my sewing machine for things like sewing paper, but that's genius! And I'm totally drooling over your smores granola. YUM.

  21. The bundt cake looks really delicious. You can toss the chocolate chips with some flour before adding them in and that will help them from sinking to the bottom. That usually works when I'm making bread or muffins with chocolate chips, so I'd think it would work with a cake.

    1. Yep I was going to say the same thing! Toss your chips in flour before adding them to the batter and they will not sink.
