Five on Friday!

Happy Friday! You know the drill...
- ONE - After 3 longs months of waiting, our Custom Kenter Classic Chair from Home Decorators Collection arrived! I love how it fills the corner of our living room. Plus now we don't have to squeeze all of our guests onto the couch! Oh, and we snagged this during HDC's last huge sale at over half off and free shipping!
We went with the "Chelsea Silver" fabric and I love how the grey looks with the beige's in the room.
But now I need some serious advice! What the heck do I put in front of our fireplace mantel and what kind of chair {or element} should I add to the left? Help! I am desperate to complete this room before Thanksgiving!

- TWO - With boot season in full force, I finally got my act together and cleaned off all of last year's snow and rain stains off my boots. Using a spray bottle, I combined one part water and one part vinegar. Then I sprayed it all over my boots and wiped them with a paper towel. Voila! Good as NEW!
- THREE - Earlier this week Kappa Prep posted her spaghetti dinner on Instagram {here} and for days all I could think about was recreating that delicious looking meal. So I did. I also Barilla's Veggie Pasta noodles for the first time and was so impressed!
- FOUR - You all know how awesome my mom is about sending "care packages" around the holidays. Well I have to admit, I was nervous about what would happen to these amazing surprises once a baby was in the picture. Would the baby only get packages from here on out? So far it looks like no because our Halloween goodies arrived yesterday and mom knocked it out of the park per usual. The only baby related item? Stretch mark cream! I'll take it!
 {the goods}
And I am so thankful I didn't know about these pumpkin shaped Reese cups earlier this season because they are incredibly addicting.
Also, speaking of stretch mark cream - Matt's mom also sent us a dang good Halloween package this week, complete with all things baby, Starbucks and guess what else? Stretch mark cream! Our moms know what's up.

- FIVE - At my work event on Wednesday night we had a florist from The Blossom Shop give demonstrations on how to make fall inspired centerpieces. At the end of the event he gave me one to take home and I am so in love with it!

  4. I would add an X-Bench or an upholstered ottoman. It would be some extra seating without too much room.

  5. Ive seen around pinterest, they took a cover and attached short small pieces of wood, to give the look of stacked wood.

  9. If you run out of your current creams, my faves were Mustela (smells ahhmazing) in the morning and coconut oil (found in the grocery store!) at night. They worked wonders for me! Loving your pretty new chair!

  12. ok, please tell me the brand/style of your boots! I have been on a mission to find new ones and I love those!

  13. They make those Reese pumpkins in ice cream form too! As far as your mantel goes, have you thought about putting a big rectangular basket in front of it and filling it with logs? To make it more fall-ish you could also fill the basket with pumpkins. Maybe to the left of the mantel you could find a trunk or something along those lines that you could also store blankets in...decorative and functional! Good to know that the vinegar/water boot cleaning trick works - I saw it on Pinterest and I was skeptical!

  14. What sweet moms you both have :) I had stretch marks with my son and they've totally faded away! I used cocoa butter religiously and still got them. Next time I'm using something else though!

  15. Reese's pumpkins (and trees, hearts, and eggs) are serious business and highly addictive! The cups I can live without but I go crazy over those holiday ones. SO GOOD!

  16. How fun to get Halloween goodies delivered to your door! Just wait til next year when you get to gift your child some Halloween goodies!

  17. You think the stretch mark cream is for a growing belly from Halloween candy and not the baby?.... because I got some in my Halloween care package too!

oh gosh, I'm so funny. for the record, I did NOT get stretch mark cream. ALSO: did you know that they have egg-shaped Reese's cups around Easter too? Love them!

  18. What if you did different sizes & styles of candelabras for in front of the fire place? & What about a large chair, not quite a love seat for the left side of the room? Just thoughts off the top of my head! & what a great solution to clean up your boots! I will be trying this soon! & Although my mom is passed, my aunt does a wonderful job of still including my brother & I in getting great goody baskets & now even Matt since he's been in the family! Even though grandkids have come along, the goodies have not stopped which is awesome!!! LOL! Happy Friday!!

  19. I would put some big pillar candles in front of their (until baby starts crawling), and a bookshelf would awesome next to the fireplace. We picked up a cute one from Pier 1 like this that we love! http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Distressed-Wood-Folding-Shelves/6133792/product.html?refccid=ZPR5MTH7N6YYTRKBT4NQYRXYBQ&searchidx=18

  21. I need to clean up my boots! Thanks for motivating me. And I love/hate you for that picture of the pumpkin reeses. I'm obsessed with the egg ones and had no idea that Halloween ones existed...definitely going to go overboard on those!

  22. How about you paint it chalkboard black and be able to have chalkboard art all year round. The baby will have something to draw on, when he or she is old enough. Or you could get some wall art with votives attached to it. I saw a real cute one at Target.

  23. I. Want. That. Chair. A-dorable! And congrats on your pregnancy - so exciting! It will be so fun to take pictures of your little one on your new chair once he/she gets here :)

  24. Personally, I would totally remove the fireplace mantel and consider bringing in a TV console table or some type of cabinet. It seems like wasted space and with a baby on the way, you'll appreciate the extra storage of a cabinet to stash some toys or to put away things. Just a thought! Your living room is coming along nicely though! Love all the furniture choices you have made so far!

  25. So smart about the boot cleaning solution! I'll have to try that. I think a big potted live plant to the left of your mantle would look great. It's a tricky space in the middle though! Sure it will all come together. Happy Friday!

  26. What a great list! That spaghetti looks really good. I think a big basket full of dried hydrangeas would look great. Here is a good fireplace decor post I found: http://asoftplace.net/2010/06/summer-ize-your-fireplace/
