Week 23 Bumpdate

First, thank you all for your encouraging words last week about my concerns about Caroline's growth. After lots of prayer and consideration, Matt and I have decided to change our doctor and practice. We just weren't getting the experience we hoped for with our doctor/staff and kept receiving misinformation about our sonograms, test results, etc. We meet our new doctor next week and are extremely excited to carry this pregnancy through the rest of the way with our new team of support!

How far along: 23 weeks!

Baby Size: A papaya (8 inches, 1.2 pounds)!

Weight gain: Still 16 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Yep! In fact, I just scored that black dress from Old Navy for $12! You can still find it on sale {here}.

Stretch marks: Nope.

Sleep: Great!

Gender: Girl - Caroline Grace Marcellino!

Movement: Oh yes and loving every minute of it! She gets real rowdy around 9 pm these days.

Best moment this week: Making the decision to move on to a new doctor. We are feeling very relieved and thankful!

Looking forward to: More nursery progress this week/weekend!

Food cravings: The usual suspects - carbs and egg sandwiches.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing!

Labor Signs: No

What I miss: Mimosas and over-easy eggs {which I'm stilling eat on occasion}.

Symptoms: Getting off the couch and rolling out of bed takes lots of effort these days.

Nursery: Oh my - yes, finally! Over the weekend we sold the bed in the guest room and used the cash to have our handy man come in and do a little closet makeover for Caroline. We had cubbies installed and added a second bar for her clothes. Now I just need to stock up on hangers, find some baskets for the cubbies and organize the closet!

Belly Button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: Happy!

Workouts: Two elliptical workouts and 1 cardio funk boot camp class.

Prayer for Caroline:

Dear Lord, You are amazing and I acknowledge Your greatness and praise You! Please help Caroline's lungs continue to grow and develop to form perfectly. Help me carry her to full term so her lungs and other organs have time to mature. Let Matt and I use the breath You have given us to express gratitude and praise You. Help me to be a good mom and role model for my family, and help me to be an expression of your Holy Spirit. Thank you, Jesus!

"Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, ad the man became a living being." - Genesis: 2:7

Stay tuned this week for a fun maternity shirt giveaway!

  2. The best piece of advice I would offer any new mum would be to trust your instincts, you know your baby better than anyone else on earth, and it sounds like that is what you are already doing, you're a natural. Pregnancy suits you so so much, you should be the advert for a healthy and happy glowing pregnancy!! Can't wait to see nursery progress xx

  7. Longest story in the world about what our first doctors told us about our daughter. The stress they caused was unreal. Luckily we found new doctors who calmed us down a ton. Not a single think the first docs were worried about happened and we have a healthy 11 year ago. Hang in there mama! Keep your chin up and keep praying!!!!

  14. Good for you for standing up and being your own advocate. When I was pregnant in the spring, I went through the same experience. My doctors and nurses weren't giving me the care I needed and the information I asked for. We changed and the last 4 months were awesome.

  29. I am so happy for you that you are able to "clean slate" it with your doctors. So important to have faith in them!

Will you still deliver at the same hospital? Selfishly I'm hoping you will now be delivering at the same place as me so mayyyybe we can be there at the same time?!

Looking GREAT and um, I am going to come to your house and STEAL that Old Navy dress!

  31. Very cute! Sounds like it was a great switch for you--always worthwhile to make the effort to change in order to have a support team you're really happy with. I ended up having a complicated delivery with my baby, and I was so glad to have taken the time to research a practice, hospital and doula that I was 100% comfortable with.

  32. Love the shirt! You are such a cute pregnant lady!

  33. It's definitely frustrating when you're not getting the proper care or information from your doctor. I switched to a different practice for second pregnancy because of a negative experience I had at the end of my first pregnancy. I couldn't have been more pleased. It felt totally different and I wish I had went with them the first time around. At least, we know where we're going when we decide to have number 3.
