Popping In - Five on Friday!

Hi long lost friends!

Wow, this blogging break has certainly been what the doctor ordered. I've missed popping in with updates for y'all but to be completely honest, it has been so refreshing not logging into blogger and just spending that time with Caroline Grace. All you mamas out there who can juggle work, blog and mommyhood - hats off to you! I can't promise I'll be updating my blog often (outside of Caroline's monthly updates) but I will try my very best to pop in from time to time!

So what have we been up to? Here are 5 updates...

1. Working and Hanging with our Moms...

Returning to work has been so much better than I had anticipated. It's been great getting back into my routine and I am really happy with my decision. My projects keep me really busy so I am distracted throughout the day and I come home chomping at the bit to hold my mini.

My MIL stayed with us the first two weeks after I returned to work and now my mom is with us for the next two. I love both of these moms so dang much and feel incredibly blessed that they are the ones watching Caroline while Matt and I are away at work until her daycare starts. I swear Caroline thinks she is at summer camp. Every day I get home and hear about her daily activities and it goes a little like this..."well, after you left we did morning yoga and stretched, we read books, did tummy time, played on the activity mat, sat in the Bumbo, drank all of our bottles, napped, sang songs, walked around outside, etc." I love it and am so spoiled by them!

2. Pumping...
Many of you have checked back in on me to see how breastfeeding has been going and I can't thank you all enough for thinking of me! I've been exclusively pumping the past few months and my milk production has only slightly increased since returning to work and pumping 6 times a day. On a good day I can pump about 12 ounces of milk and we supplement the rest with Earth's Best Organic Formula. However, I've decided to throw in the towel and am starting to slowly cut pumping sessions out of the day. It's bittersweet.

3. Dieting...
I am not going to bore you with regular updates on my post-partum weight loss, but I do feel like since I dragged y'all into it with my weekly "bump dates" I owe you an update on what has happened to those 28 pounds I gained. The update is short...half of those pounds still remain and I am working my booty off to get rid of them (diet and exercising). And while 12-14 pounds may not seem all that bad, I am less than 5 feet tall and have very petite features so all of those extra pounds currently hide in my lower belly giving me the appearance that I am 5 months pregnant still. Prior to pregnancy, I wore size 4 jeans. Now I wear....maternity jeans. So that's that. And no, I will not be posting any picture updates.

4. Matt...
Big update coming soon. Stay tuned. Proud of this man!

5. Weekend...

Dad was sad he was missing out on all the fun mom is having watching Caroline so he's decided to fly into town for the weekend to hang with his favorite grandbaby. And oh, Lindsey got sad too so she booked a "work trip" and is staying with us half of next week. Saturday night, mom and dad have asked to watch Caroline for the evening so Matt and I could have our second date night ever. Since Caroline arrived we've been really bad about breaking away just the two of us so we are really excited to try a new restaurant, Baku, for dinner. We always drive by and say "we should try that place sometime" and now we are finally going to!

And because every post needs a picture of my cute baby who doesn't sleep anymore (early 4 month sleep regression?)...

Happy weekend!

It's finally coming off a little faster now and I've lost 6 pounds in the past two weeks but I skill have 17 pounds to go. You're not alone! Keep it up :) p.s. I'm still in maternity clothes too...glad I'm not the only one!

  10. Girl, I feel you with the baby weight loss! My son is 14 weeks old, and despite me being +5 pounds from pre-preggo weight, nothing fits me anymore and i still regularly wear my maternity jeans. All we can do is keep at it and embrace ourselves as mommies, right?

  12. She's such a cutie pie. Glad to hear work is going well, and I hear you on the pumping... I held out until Abbie was 6 months before my supply was just laughable. Good luck with that transition!

  13. So glad you popped back in to give us an update!! It's great to hear that the transition back to work has been easier than you thought!! What a relief! Babies tend to sense any changes, so her sleep may be reflecting this new transition; but don't be fooled. The 4 month sleep regression is REAL! But it too does pass.... Have a great weekend snuggling that cute baby and having a fun date night!

  14. Glad things are going so smoothly and that your moms are doing such a fabulous job as temporary babysitters! My husband and I went to Baku last week for the first time. Loved our cocktails and drinks (he loved the sake sampler) but thought the food was just ok (given the high price). I'd ask any friends you know who have gone for suggestions so that you don't leave disappointed like we did!

  17. So glad you were able to stop back in for an update! You've been missed but its great knowing that you are loving on your adorable baby girl!! She is lucky to have all the great people in her life!

  18. Your little girl is adorable! It took me about three months or so to feel "normal" after having my little guy. I turned to high waisted jeans - lol! I'm pretty petite too and still have that little post baby belly. It's frustrating!

  21. Yay! So happy to see your post :)
I am so proud of you mama - you are doing so well! I hope C starts sleeping again, little rascal and hats off to you for the pumping at work! You look gorgeous but I know the feeling, i have two babies of weight to get rid of and it's not easy! x

  22. You sound so completely happy! I'm so happy for you! Caroline is adorable (and my little one has the same outfit). I am such a fan of nursing but I cannot fathom exclusively pumping. Way to go! I am so impressed you did it. Those pounds will come off, you still just had a baby! Have fun at Baku! I've heard great things.

  24. What a sweetie!! And what a blessing to have all those people begging to watch your baby! Lucky girl! :) I struggled with weight loss, too, and at 5'1, I know the feeling of a few extra pounds feeling like much more! If you're interested, I have a Facebook fitness challenge group coming up! I did my first one with T25 and lost 7lbs and 10.5 inches in 10 weeks! Let me know if you want more info! :)

  25. Blog breaks are SO VERY NEEDED!!!! Where is your adorable phone case from??

  26. Thank you for being honest about weight after pregnancy! I'm also short and packing them on quickly with my 2nd and i'm promising myself not to stress after. How was Baku? Also, I had supply issues from the beginning. I forced myself to make it to 6 months but at that point he was already getting 2-3 formula bottles a day. I should have quit at 5 months!

  27. Darn that 4 month sleep regression! Hope it passes quickly. I'm so glad your return to work is going well and that Caroline has been having so much fun with her grandmothers. Don't sweat that baby weight, you'll get there. I was definitely in maternity pants when I returned to work too! For some people, when they stop nursing they drop some weight. Maybe you'll get lucky and that will happen for you? Regardless, you look fantastic and you'll get back in those jeans. Caroline is just too cute! Enjoy your sweet girl and your date night.

  28. Welcome back! Can't wait to hear Matt's exciting news.

  29. I've been pretty bad with blogging lately too, but our new babies SHOULD take priority over blogs! No guilt here :) That is SO amazing that both Grandmas are watching Caroline. I bet they are loving spending time with her just as much as she is loving seeing her Grandmas so much! Sounds like life is going pretty good for your family :)
