5 Month Bumpdate {Gender Reveal}

I am 19 weeks pregnant and the time is flying by. In fact, I wish it would slow down just a bit because we have done absolutely nothing to prepare for baby M2 except for signing up for the daycare wait list. Anyway, let's get down to the most exciting update...the gender reveal...
We officially received gender confirmation at my anatomy scan last week. To reveal the news to our families we gave them confetti poppers and an envelope containing the name...
Baby M2 is a...BOY!

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome a little man to our family. And I am so hoping that he is a total mama's boy since Caroline absolutely favors her daddy. We'll see!
We knew we wanted to use another family name for our little boy and both of us agreed it would be so special to honor both of our dad's, so we chose Thomas Dean Marcellino. Thomas is Matt's dad's name (and also Matt's middle name) and Dean is my dad's name. We love the name Thomas Dean and both of our dad's were so excited and surprised when we told them. I also think "Tommy" is a really cute little boy name although Matt adamantly says he'll be called "Thomas". Oh, and although it's a total coincidence, Matt and I also met at Thomas Street Tavern (you can read that story here).
Other less exciting pregnancy updates...
  • Sleeping good and feeling good for the most part. There are definitely nights of pregnancy insomnia and days of extreme exhaustion sprinkled in but for the most part I am reminded of how much I love the second trimester, minus the lovely round ligament pains.
  • The flutters have begun and I forgot how much I love feeling movement in my tummy!
  • Craving carbs (bagels, pastas, french fries, etc.), ice cream and candy these days. I have also created a million excuses for not working out these past few months.
  • I'm officially up 7 pounds and my regular clothes are no longer comfortable so I pretty much only wear dresses these days. While unpacking my box of maternity clothes I realized 60% of my wardrobe from my last pregnancy consisted of leggings. So I decided to purchase these, these and these on sale from Destination Maternity last week.
  • "Pregnancy brain" coupled with "mommy brain" is no joke. I forget a lot of things these days, feel scattered all the time and have done my fair share of dumb things lately.
  • Lastly, we have decided we're going to let Thomas and Caroline share a room and see how it goes. This may be the worst idea of all time but we're going to give it a shot. Plus we would only have to buy an extra crib instead of furnishing an entire new nursery. Any mama's with room sharing experience, I would love to know your thoughts!
And for fun - 19 weeks pregnant with Caroline (post)!

  6. I just KNEW it was a boy! Oh, Christina, you are going to just love having a little man. The bond between a mama and her son is the sweetest. I am so excited to be getting ready to welcome a daughter into our little family, but everyone says to prepare myself for her to be a daddy's girl. I'm OK with that because my son is a mama's boy and I love it. And so will you:) So excited for you!

And love the name! So sweet that it's so full of meaning for both of your families. Perfect!

  9. We are starting the adoption proces again and will be adopting a boy this time so that Ellie can have a brother. Our plan is for them to share a room as well! My husband is named Thomas. Although many of his friends and family call him Tom, I prefer to call him Thomas or Tommy on occasion.

  15. Congratulations! I adore my little boy. He is just the sweetest little thing (of course...he's only 4 months but still lol). I would love to hear how room sharing works! We live in a 2 bd townhome so if we have another little one while we are here (which we probably will since I want them close in age), we won't have a choice but to have them share a room. Can't wait to see how you decorate to accommodate that.

  22. My 2 boys have been sharing a room since the younger one was 1 month old (he's 11 months now). They have a much bigger age gap than your kiddos will, but it has worked well for us and we've found they sleep through each other's night wakings. The only tricky thing is that they have a hard time falling asleep if they're both in there awake, so we stagger bedtimes a little. We put the baby down and then read a few extra stories to big brother. Both of them are total mama's boys, and I love it! Congratulations!

  23. My boys share a room (granted they are 2.5 years apart) and it has been wonderful! I was so nervous to actually put the baby in there but after 4 months in our room I just bit the bullet and did it. The first week was a little rough but after that my big one got used to the baby noises (and probably vice versa) and now the baby can wake up and cry and my toddler doesn't even stir. One thing to know is that toddlers sleep very soundly!!! I am sure Caroline will be a pro!

  25. Oh, how exciting! Congratulations to you all! I love his name, how sweet that you can honor both of your dads! Our little ones are going to share a room too. We've put in the big boy bed already and have adjusted to that, now there's an empty crib in the room waiting to be filled by the new little guy. I'm hoping and praying the room sharing goes well, we shall see. Right now I'm thinking the baby won't even sleep in the room at night until he sleeps though most of the night...

  28. Congratulations!!! I love all of the classic names coming back! Such a great name choice :)

  29. AHHH! I guessed wrong! But I'm so happy I did - a BOY! Yay!!! We are so excited for our little boy's arrival, too!

Love the name, love that it has meaning. Same with us. Conner Jack....Conner = great grandparents' last name, Jack = my dad's middle name.

Pregnancy brain is in full effect here, too. I can't imagine pregnancy brain + mommy brain! Ha! Hang in there, lady! It's totally worth it!

And how COOL is that - they will share a room! They'll be so close in age, I think it will be perfect!

Have I said how happy I am for y'all?!?! :)

  33. Congratulations! I have an older girl and younger boy, 17 months apart. She is the BEST big sister and is such a big helper. We didn't want to have to buy another crib, so, believe it or not, we put her in a big girl bed at 15 months. She still slept on top of covers, etc. but you would not believe how it was probably the easiest thing we've ever done. She never once got out of bed, and would only call us when she needed something. We moved our little boy out of the crib around 18 months, and again, never had a single problem with them getting out and exploring! We moved her out of the crib prior to the new baby coming, so she was used to it and it wasn't too much transition, too soon. But, from my experience, i'd move them out early. Makes the transition super easy, plus you don't need another crib!

  36. Congrats!! One of each is just so perfect! There is something so incredibly special about having a little boy too. Love the name you chose. Thomas and Dean were both on our list when choosing a name for our son! Love!

  37. How fun!!! Boys are very different from girls, and its fun to watch that unfold. Life will be louder, rowdier, messier, but never better.
