The Yummiest Banana Bread

If you have 3 ripe bananas sitting on your counter, it’s time to make the yummiest banana bread recipe ever! I’ve been making this bread for almost a decade (originally shared this recipe back in 2015) and it’s perfectly delicious every time.

This bread has the most tender texture, is packed with sweet banana flavor, and stays moist for days (although it’s so tasty that it likely won’t last that long anyway)! It’s also freezable (perfect for making ahead for the holidays), giftable, and makes your home smell heavenly.

This recipe is one that has stood the test of time and is one that I’ll cherish forever because my dear friend, McKinsey, shared it with me all the way back in 2015 (when we were neighbors for the first time)! Every so often she would surprise me with a fresh loaf and it would never last more than a day in our home. The recipe actually came from her mom…who got it from one of her best friends. Now that’s how you know it’s a good one, right?

Banana Bread Ingredients

  • Vegetable Oil
  • Sugar
  • Eggs
  • Ripe Bananas (Make sure your bananas are overripe and have dark brown speckles for optimal flavor!)
  • Flour
  • Vanilla
  • Baking Soda
  • Baking Powder
  • Salt
  • Milk
  • Poppy Seeds (optional)

Things You Can Add to Your Banana Bread

Want to mix up your bread a bit? You can add poppy seeds (my favorite), toasted/chopped walnuts or pecans, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and more!

Recipe Tools

  • Stand Mixer: I prefer to mix all the ingredients in my stand mixer. It’s just so easy
  • Bread Loaf Pan: This is the one I use and love. I sometimes line the pan with parchment paper so I can pull the loaf right out and not have to worry about scrubbing the pan after.

Why We Love This Banana Bread Recipe

  • Easy to make. Don’t let the ingredients list fool you. I can whip this together in my stand mixer in less than 10 minutes. Then pop in the oven for an hour and let your home fill up with the most delicious scent.
  • Freezes great! See instructions below. Perfect for making ahead of time, freezing and thawing for holiday gatherings.
  • Perfect texture. This bread is dense, has the most tender texture, and will stay moist for days!
  • Highly giftable. A perfect homemade gift for a neighbor, teacher, co-worker, holiday gift, and more! I also think this is a lovely addition to include in a drop-off meal for someone in need (often, people forget that person/family might need a snack/breakfast item too)!

How To Freeze & Thaw Banana Bread

Freezing Instructions: After baking, cool the banana bread completely. Tightly wrap sliced or unsliced bread in several layers of plastic wrap and/or aluminum foil. Date and place in freezer for up to 3 months.

Thawing Instructions: Thaw in fridge overnight. Rewarm by popping in the oven for about 10 minutes at 325 degrees.
