Easter Baskets & Traditions

Easter is easily one of my favorite holidays of the year. In fact, it ties with Christmas for me. And this year I am looking forward to incorporating more traditions into our holiday now that Caroline is a bit older and is jazzed about Jesus. Seriously, that girl loves to tell (or sing) to anyone who will listen that Jesus loves her. Anyway, our holiday weekend is all planned out and I can’t wait to check off some fun traditions.

A Mix of Old and New Easter Traditions

1. Dye Easter eggs (should be interesting).
2. Read all of our Eastery books.
3. Leave chalk prints from the “bunny” on the porch.
4. Find and purchase outfits for the kiddos.
5. Begin the 12 Eggs of Easter, although Caroline may be a little too young still.
6. Decorate the house.
7. Brunch and egg hunt with Mimi & Grandad.
8. Bake some festive treats or an amazing carrot cake or a yummy strawberry yogurt cake.
9. Eat too much candy – chocolate dipped peeps, cream filled eggs, peanut butter bunnies and more.
10. Easter baskets!

Would love to know what your family Easter traditions are too!

And speaking of Easter baskets, the past few weeks I have been squirreling away goodies for the kiddos. Earlier this week I picked up a matching monogrammed Easter basket for Thomas too. I absolutely cannot wait to watch the kiddos destroy our house with grass confetti this year.

Easter Basket Ideas

If you are looking to fill a first or second Easter basket, I have some ideas for you!!! Personally, my favorite “lists” are those which contain tried and true items, so I’ve included some of our current favorites for Thomas (7 months old) and Caroline (21 months old)!

Baby Einstein Roller Pillar Activity Balls // Baby Banana Training Toothbrush // Guess How Much I Love You // Plum Organics Puffs // Munchkin Latch Sippy Cup // Jellycat Bunny // Bella Tunno Pacifier Clip // MAM Pacifiers // Yogurt Melts // Hide N Squeak Eggs // OXO Snack Keeper // Boon Pulp Silicone Feeder // Noodle & Boo Hair + Body Wash // Bella Tunno Wonder Bib

Note: Even though all of these are true favorites, I must share that the Hide N Squeak Eggs have been one of the most played with toys in our home. Caroline received these at 6 months old for Christmas and still plays with them. Thomas loves them too. This toy is our go-to birthday gift for one year olds. It’s such a versatile toy that can be played with for a long time!

Egg Chalk // Crayons // Plum Organics Jammy Sammys // OXO Fork & Spoon Set // OXO Snack Keeper // Annie’s Organic Bunny Fruit Snacks // Garden/Beach Toys // Munchkin Miracle 360 Sippy Cup // Runaway Bunny // Babyganics Bubble Bath // Light Up Timer Toothbrush // VTech Baby Phone // Play-Doh

Note: I cannot recommend the Munchkin Miracle 360 Sippy Cup enough. It is an absolute favorite of ours and I highly recommend it for your little one’s Easter basket! It doesn’t spill, it doesn’t leak, it’s super easy to clean and Caroline loves it.

Easter Books

Also, here is a really fun round-up of Easter books I put together last year in case you’re looking to add some reading material to your baskets.

Duck & Goose, Here Comes the Easter Bunny // The Berenstain Bears and The Easter Story // Guess How Much I Love You // God Gave Us Easter // Happy Easter, Mouse // The Donkey Who Carried a King // Llama Llama Easter Egg // The Runaway Bunny // The Easter Story

Teacher Gifts

Last but not least, here is a little treat I gave the teachers last year for Easter. Simple and inexpensive, yet thoughtful!

What are some of your fun (and practical) Easter basket stuffers?!

I love all these non-candy items for Easter! I know I'm going to get a "mean Mommy" title for not wanting to do candy, but honestly I'll just end up eating all of it.

Easter Egg Baseball! Every year! (We hard boil about 50 eggs, decorate them, then freeze them the night before) We wake up on Easter morning and do all of the Eastery things, put on ponchos, then "BATTER UP!" I like to put some raw decorated eggs in there just to make sure everyone gets covered in egg before the game is over. Super fun!

Christina, it just blows me away when you make posts like this. Blows me away and inspires me to try to do even more for my own child. I want to make her Easter a good one and seeing things like this just get the head tinkering. Thank you for this post!
