Five on Friday!

Happy Friday! Yes or no…is this weekend too early to bring home our Christmas tree?

one. Last week I ran to Ikea to make some returns and while I was there I stumbled upon these adorable little Christmas trees. I grabbed two for our fireplace mantel and scooped up some pots to go with them. We have not busted out our boxes of Christmas decor yet but I am loving these first signs of Christmas in our home!

two. Last Friday, we joined two of our favorite couples for an epic triple date night. We started with dinner and drinks at Dandelion Market and then walked to the arena for the Jim Gaffigan show. The show was unbelievably hilarious and we all laughed our faces off. Afterwards we were all so wound up that we decided to hit the bars for a bit (who ARE we?!) and then finished the night off at an 80’s night club (I’m sorry, WHAT?). That club has never seen such amazing mom moves. And the kids could not have been more excited to find a trail of glow sticks throughout the house when they woke up.

three. Earlier this week Matt broke out his custom suit from Ole Mason Jar for a photo shoot he had for an impressive legal award he won. Is this suit not amazing?! It truly turned out so gorgeous. #notsponsored just obsessed.

four. After a recent cold & ear infection for Thomas plus the threat of hand foot mouth going around Caroline’s class, I primed Zarbee’s Elderberry Immune Support Gummies a few weeks ago and have been giving one to both kids every night. These vitamins are loaded with vitamin C, zinc and elderberry to boost the immune system. Fingers crossed, so far they seem to be working to keep any additional colds and viruses at bay! Of course, now that I said that…

five. [GIVEAWAY] I know I’m super late to the Beauty Counter party but I recently received the Multi-Masker Set to review and am super impressed with my first experience using these products! I use a face mask almost every night before bed and am always on the hunt for new ones to try. Lucky for me, this set came with THREE masks: #1 Brightening Facial Mask (creates an illuminated and more even-toned complexion with vitamin C.), #2 Plumping Facial Mask (gives skin a firm, toned, more youthful appearance with plumping peony root), and #3 Balancing Facial Mask (absorbs excess oil and draws out impurities with activated charcoal). You can use one mask at a time or all three at once! This would be such a fun Christmas gift to give the beauty product lover in your life.

[GIVEAWAY] Lyndsey generously offered to give away a multi-masker set to one lucky reader! Enter using the Rafflecopter! The contest will run through Nov. 21 and the winner will be picked at random and announced back here on Nov. 22! Good luck!

Five on Friday!

It feels so GOOD to have a healthy, happy family again! Thank you all for the well wishes. We have a great weekend ahead – a wedding and a bridal shower!

– ONE – Last night was our monthly Supper Club and my girlfriends totally surprised me with a baby shower! It literally took me like 2 minutes after everyone screamed “surprise!” to realize it was my shower. I am so thankful to call these girls friends and loaded up on tons of sweet, soft boy clothes! Full post coming soon. In the meantime, here is the delicious funfetti cake!

– TWO – I am on the hunt for healthy snacks to pack for the work day. My sister recommended roasted chickpeas so I made a batch earlier this week and loved them. Since I pack 34534523 snacks for work each day I am always on the hunt for something new. What are your favorite healthy go to snacks?

– THREE – A few weeks ago you all gave me some great high chair recommendations (here). Thank you! We ended up with the Ikea Antilop Highchair and are pretty happy with it. It is SO easy to clean (no fabric, no crevices, etc.), I love the clean look, it doesn’t have a foot rest so Caroline can’t stand up and was ONLY $20. The only drawback is the tray isn’t easy to remove so I have to wait until Caroline is out of the chair to remove it. We almost went with the Boon Flair Highchair (our runner up and highly recommended by many of you) but decided to save $200 since the pedestal base is a magnet for collecting massive amounts of Charlie’s hair, especially since we slide the chair around from room to room.

– FOUR – Every year I get excited for herb season and end up buying way too many plants that end up dying. The only herb that ever prevails is my mint and it usually ends up strangling all of my other herbs within a month. So this year I kept things simple and decided on ONE herb – basil. It’s sitting in my kitchen and I love it.

– FIVE – Let’s just stop at four today, okay? Happy weekend, friends!

Five on Friday!

Happy, happy Friday y’all!

A quick housekeeping note before we get down to it – thank you to everyone who linked up last week and entered our Five on Friday giveaway! Congrats #110 – Life, Love and Puppy Paws on winning lots of amazing goodies!

On to the five!

– ONE – My sister and her hubby arrived last night and today the boys are competing in the Annual BBQ and Brews Contest
for the fifth year! So you can find us taking full advantage of the
brews and BBQ in Uptown this weekend. And if you live in Charlotte you
should totally stop by our tent and sample some BBQ! Last year the boys
took home 3rd place in ribs and I have no doubt that they will be a hit
again this year.

– TWO – A few weeks ago I posted about my all time favorite Bath & Body Works candle scent – Flannel. Well this week B&BW is running another awesome sale on 3-wick candles {2 for $22} and I had a coupon so I ran up to the store to stock back up and I was so disappointed to find they were sold out! Ugh! And then I was informed that Flannel sells out quickly every single year early in the season. Lesson learned. So anyway, I had to find a new scent and went with Sparkling Icicles. It’s no Flannel, but it sure does smell amazing.

– THREE – Last weekend my friend {and cousin by marriage} August came to visit! Saturday night we met up with a mutual friend for a girl’s dinner at Good Food on Montford and oh-my-goodness it was amazing. We enjoyed lots of delicious small plates, wine and polished off dinner with dessert and Kahlua and Cream cocktails {my first ever, and now I’m hooked}. I am dying for a date night so Matt and I can go together. Anyone want to babysit?

– FOUR – Loving my new oversized plaid scarf from Target! Like everyone other girl, I am scarf obsessed so this beauty immediately caught my eye during a recent emergency formula run. At $16.99 and on sale for 20% off, I had to have it.

– FIVE – In the words of my favorite artist Jimmy Buffett, “Wrinkles will only go where the smiles have been.” Oh so true! Between lots of smiles and decades of soaking up the Florida sunshine I am now officially at war with my face wrinkles.

Lucky for me, my blog friend turned real friend and Rodan + Fields rep recently announced a new product on her blog called Redefine Acute Care {coming in January} and was super generous to give me some strips to review! Acute Care targets expression lines and wrinkles while you sleep for
smoother, more youthful looking skin. Although I’ve never tried Botox,
Acute Care offers similar results yet is more affordable ($198 for 10
treatments), convenient (at home application), painless (no needles) and
quick (overnight results). Anyway, I think I’ll let the before/after pictures from one treatment speak for themselves…

I’m so terrible at “selfies” so excuse the awkwardness. I thought including the baby would make things a little less weird.

The product is designed to be used every three days for a full month but a lot of people (like ME!) see results after just one use. The only two ingredients are hyaluronic acid and peptides which are both found naturally in your skin. Basically you wash your face, peel the strip and apply in your desired location. You can use them around your mouth, on eye lines or on your forehead. For me, it was a no brainer that I would target my crazy forehead wrinkles. I’ve only used the strips for one night and already see a little difference so of course I now want to try a whole month! I also started the Redefine regimen so I’ll have to update y’all later on that too.

Okay – so the best part?! This line won’t hit the market until January 2015 but will be offered to preferred customers only to purchase (through an R+F rep) for a one day flash sale – October 22! It is extremely likely that the R+F website will crash (it already did the day the reps were allowed to purchase) and that the product will sell out quickly, so if you’re interested contact Kristen early to place your order! Also, Kristen has generously agreed to give one Acute Care treatment (2 strips) to anyone who signs up to be a preferred customer between now and the flash sale (October 22)!! If you are interested in buying the Acute Care or any other R+F products, you can contact Kristen through her Rodan + Fields webpage.

And not to sound like an infomercial (but wait! there’s more!), Kristen is also offering to give away one Acute Care treatment to one lucky reader. You can enter the contest by using the rafflecopter below! The giveaway closes at midnight on October 21 and the winner (chosen at random) will be announced on October 22. Good luck!

Definitely my forehead wrinkles!

Five on Friday!

Keeping it short today since I’m getting ready for, well #1…

– ONE – Matt and I are so excited to celebrate our babymoon in Charleston this {extra long} weekend! We’ll be staying downtown at the cutest little bed & breakfast, eating lots of fancy meals and just relaxing and spending lots of quality time together in one of our very favorite places in the world. However, I have to admit, this trip is so bittersweet for us. We absolutely cannot wait for our lil Caroline to arrive, but it also makes me sad to think that Matt and I won’t be able to take off for romantic weekends together at the drop of a hat without missing our baby the entire time. So we will definitely be living it up for our last 3 day trip!

– TWO – The absolute CRAZIEST thing happened to me this week. I never clean my rings, like ever. But after getting some cookie dough wedged inside my setting I decided I should throw them in some cleaning solution. So on Sunday I threw all my rings in the jar and on Monday morning I went to put them on and noticed one of the prongs on my very special ring had broken off and the diamond was missing. I was hysterical. This ring means to much to me since it was passed down to me from my birth mom. All of the diamonds are from various family rings that she had placed in one setting and I wear it every day (much to my dad’s chagrin). Anyway, I was pretty devastated that I had lost one of the diamonds so I set the ring aside to get fixed and went about my day (thinking about it often). I went to the gym on Monday and again on Tuesday. However, as I was getting dressed outside my locker the next day I thought I saw something shiny in the carpet but assumed it was probably a sequin or large piece of glitter or something. I decided to be brave and leaned down and poked it. It immediately flipped over and I recognized it instantly as my lost diamond!!! I tried not to make a big deal about it in the locker room because I was afraid someone else would try and claim it but I literally could not believe it. It had to have fallen out on Friday (the last time I wore the ring to the gym) and sat there all weekend and half the week (which also means the Y doesn’t vacuum the locker room floor – gross). Sorry for the long story but this was such an incredible moment for me this week I just had to share!

– THREE – I recently received two adorable pair of socks from Jo Jo Sox and am obsessed. Perfect for wearing with boots, these socks are thin yet durable, they don’t slide down your leg under your boots or get bunched up under your skinny jeans and are probably the nicest socks I now own. Now I don’t have to steal my hubby’s dress socks to wear under my boots.

You can find the Don’t P Cocky socks {here}, the Bambootz & Lace socks {here} and lots of other cute socks {here}!

– FOUR – I was planning to show off my new kicks, but instead it looks like I’m showing off my belly. Regardless, I’m pretty pumped about both.

– FIVE – Another reason why I am totally in love with my new OB doctor…he approved me eating my eggs cooked “over-medium” which is my favorite style. After church on Sunday we had brunch with our friends and I was in heaven over my cheesy hashbrown skillet topped with over-medium eggs!
