Halloween

I’d rate our Halloween a 4 out of 10 this year. Under normal circumstances, this holiday is one of our very favorite annual celebrations but for obvious reasons things were a lot different this year. I had hoped to be well enough to at least pass out a few lollipops from the front porch but ended up sleeping through most of the festivities.

A few months ago Caroline picked out her costume during a quick errand at Marshalls. I had hoped to dress her up as a cute little kitten but once she spotted the big ball of yellow fur a few racks away there was no question that she would be a duck for Halloween. We tested out the costume to make sure she didn’t mind the head piece and to our surprise she loved it.

For Thomas I decided to get crafty and whipped up a Mummy Onesie for him. However, in the chaos of packing his bag to go to Grandma’s house for the week I totally forgot to pack his costume. Fail. So Grandmom ran out and picked up the cutest little pumpkin outfit for him. It was super hard not having him with us for his very first holiday but I know how much it meant to Matt’s parents to have their little grandbaby all to themselves!

Meanwhile, my mom was having the very best time with Caroline. Our neighborhood hosts the biggest and most fun block party every Halloween that we always look forward to. Matt stayed back with me but mom took Caroline down to the party to play with her friends, eat pizza and jump in the bounce house.

Mom and her grandbaby duck!

And that was a wrap on Halloween!

It can't be fun to miss out on the fun, but this time is a blip in the grand scheme of things. One holiday missed, but so many more to come. Stay strong. Stay positive. Each day that passes is one day closer to being recovered.
