A few more updates on Caroline’s nursery…
Since moving into our home, this spare room was primarily used as a storage/guest room. It was an absolute disaster so we pretty much just kept the door shut {for like a year} until we found out we were expecting. After Thanksgiving we started making frequent trips to our attic and Goodwill to clear out the space. It’s actually a pretty small room too {about 10′ x 12′} so it’s been a challenge trying to figure out how to cram a chair, crib, dresser and other baby necessities into such a small space, but thanks to my creative friend Laura we were able to move everything around to make it work perfectly! And although it’s still a work in progress, I have absolutely loved watching this soothing little room come together.
Our first {and biggest} project to date was our stenciled accent wall. You can read a full post on that {here}. We love how it turned out even though it was a ton of work!
For the crib we chose the Kendall Low-Profile Fixed Gate Crib from Pottery Barn. My mom and I fell in love with this crib during Black Friday and picked it up on sale! It’s gender neutral, classic style sold me right away. But the best part? The “low profile” model is 4″ shorter than a traditional crib, making it the perfect design for petite parents like us.
We also decided to add more storage to Caroline’s closet by building cubbies and installing a second rod for clothes. You can read about our closet makeover {here}!
Our rocker was our biggest splurge for the nursery and we knew it would be so we cut back in other decor areas to adjust for this spend. I really wanted a comfortable chair that didn’t scream “baby nursery” so we could use it forever. The Wingback Convertible Rocker from Pottery Barn was exactly what we were looking. After babies, this chair can be converted to a traditional armchair by installing stationary feet. It’s also super comfortable and big enough to comfortably fit two kids and plus mommy or daddy for story time. The day our chair arrived I cried. It was the first time I felt like things were getting “real” as I sat in our rocker thinking about how soon I would have our baby in my arms.
Next up, the window!
I wanted to keep the room very bright and neutral so we chose simple white curtains instead of a colored or patterned set and added a second rod for some lace! I’ll probably regret the white curtains at nap time, but they do help block out the sun a bit when closed.
I love how the lace and scalloped door knob tie backs add a sweet little feminine touch to the nursery.
I swoon over the glass knobs!
The White Window Panels are from Target and the Sheer Lace Curtains are from Ikea. The rod, curtain rod holder, wall/ceiling bracket and finials are all from Ikea as well. The door knob curtain tie-backs are from Urban Outfitters.
The bookshelves have been one of my favorite projects to date. We picked up 4 spice racks from Ikea and spray painted them white. I love how Matt placed them low enough for Caroline to reach her books once she’s mobile.
Between my sister and my bestie, Caroline already has an awesome book collection {and stuffed animal collection} started too!
The dresser, oh the dresser! I can’t believe how quickly {and affordable} this project came together. For the full story, {click here}.
We decided to incorporate glass knobs to match our curtain tie backs.
And of course, the rug! You may recall my rug dilemma post {here}. Well, we are happy, happy, happy with the Land of Nod Pink Ribbon Cutting Rug. Still on the fence about returning the Diamond Print Pouf Ottoman from Target since it competes with the wall, but it’s growing on me.
Now that most of our furniture is in place, it’s time to decorate! We still need to assemble our side table, add a lamp, hang all the little decorative things I’ve been working on, complete our bedding/changing table, hang a shelf and a few other things. I’ll post one last update of the finished nursery when it’s complete! Thank you all for your sweet comments throughout our nursery progress!

The nursery is just beautiful!! Y'all did a great job on it. I can't wait to see the finished product…including sweet Caroline in her nursery! 🙂
The accent wall looks incredible- definitely a great idea! I love the colors you chose & all the little details! Beautiful!!
Gorgeous!! Love the closet doors!
You guys did such a wonderful job – can't wait to see what you come up with for over the crib!!
Wow. You have outdone yourself on that accent wall. Love this room! And love, love, love the lace curtains! So soft, sweet, and feminine. You could always get a blackout roll down shade if they pose a problem at nap time. Great job! -XoPlumtickledpink.blogspot.com
The misery is looking great! I love how soft and neutral it is – beautiful!
Such a relaxing and soothing place for you and your babe. Love it!!
Caroline's nursery is so beautiful!! I love the soft colors and that beautiful stenciled wall. We got a lot accomplished in our baby girl's nursery over this past weekend! It's starting to really come together. It's so much fun decorating for a little girl. 🙂
It looks so serene! Our nursery is a small space, and I love the coziness. Even with baby number 2, it's one of my favorite parts of our house. I'm sure Caroline's will be the same for you! Ha, although you might not feel that way at 2 AM occasionally!
Everything looks fantastic!! 🙂 I feel your predicament on the space;we also have a very small nursery for our little one that started out as a dumping ground for stuff, too! 😀 I absolutely love those closet doors–so much character!! Would you mind terribly if I copied those "book racks"?? His room is so little that i can't cram any more furniture in there, but am in need of something to put his little books on and add "a little something" to the wall area there. I love it! (You could also possibly swap out the pictures for books once the little one is older and wants books at her reach!) Everything looks gorgeous! Cheers,Samara
Beautiful nursery! LOVE LOVE LOVE the chair! It's beautiful and looks very comfortable. I noticed the books Rain babies and I am dying because I remember that book from elementary school! I don't remember what it was about but the cover of it was always interesting to me. I will have to look that for Elin!
Gorgeous! The window is my favorite part. I have similar glass nobs in our bathroom to hang necklaces. Absolutely love them!
First I was obsessed with the bookshelf… and then I saw the curtains… OMG… Caroline's nursery is beyond perfection!! I LOVE it!!!!!!
Looks gorgeous! SO excited for you guys to have little Caroline in that room! 🙂 Such a beautiful time in your life!
Looks like it's coming along perfectly! I can't wait to see the finished product!!

I'm in love with that rug!! And great books on the bookshelf 🙂
Soo pretty!!! Love how calm it is and then the pops of colors from the books and toys! What a beautiful nursery.
It looks fantastic! <3
It's all coming together beautifully!! You may eventually want some kind of hidden blackout curtain for naps (especially when she's learning to sleep on her own), but it looks sooooo beautiful with the flowy soft white curtains.
it's SO beautiful! i love the rocker (and it looks like something you can keep long after the baby is grown). the shelves look great and the whole room is so serene and pretty. xo jillian – cornflake dreams

I absolutely love her nursery. Grey and white were the colors for my little girl's nursery as well!
your room is set up exactly the same way ours is! What size rug did you order? I'm having issues with the size of our rug. I am also totally going to steal your spice rack idea. I needed something for one of the walls and that is perfect!
Love how this is all coming together! I fell in love with a crib at Restoration Hardware but have decided to go with your same crib (except just regular) and we are also looking into purchasing that chair so I am happy to hear you love it!
lookin' good!!! 🙂
