The Pumpkin Patch!

Over the weekend we pumpkin patched! Out of the three trips we’ve been to Hodges Family Farm Pumpkin Patch as a family this one was hands down the best and most fun. This age y’all – I want to freeze it.

We made the mistake of telling Caroline at bedtime the night before that when she woke up we were going to the pumpkin patch. So naturally she was banging on the walls and singing about the pumpkin patch before the sun even came up. Noted for next year.

However, the silver lining was that we were the first to the patch! And Caroline’s best friend Austin pulled in right behind us (the best unplanned surprise ever) for the second year in a row.

The kiddos ran through every bit of the 5 acres.

However, I was able to contain the minis in the wagon for one round of “If You’re Happy and You Know It” for a family photoshoot.

I promise Thomas’s expression does not accurately reflect his time at the patch. But I can’t stop laughing every time I look at this picture so I had to include it.

We came for the pumpkins but the farm animals really stole the show.

Off to the maze where I intercepted at least 3 handfuls of hay headed to Thomas’s mouth.

Guess which toddler refused participation in the pumpkin face photo opp…

The Pumpkin Patch

We pumpkin patched over the weekend.

On the way to the patch I kept Caroline entertained by reading her every pumpkin book we owned smushed in the back seat between the kiddos (per usual!). So when we arrived she was out of control at the sight of the first pumpkin. She had to pick up every.single.pumpkin on the farm and squealed for a solid two hours.

This was our second trip to Hodges Family Farm. We love this patch because it has so many activities from hayrides to farm animals. Last year we brought Caroline (post here) and it was such a different experience this time with a wild toddler.

Thomas partied the whole time too.

Just kidding. Thomas snoozed. So we kept him bundled inside the JJ Cole Urban Bundleme (tucked under the softest, furriest little hat) until it got warm enough to carry him. We used this amazing thermaplush pocket of a blanket with Caroline and she loved it so much that we got a second for Thomas. Rather than hassling with bulky blankets the BundleMe slips
right into the stroller or car seat {around the straps} and zips up to protect baby
against wind while the luxuriously soft inner thermaplus keeps in the
warmth.

The farm animals were a big hit this year. We’ve been working on the “what does the (animal) say?” game with Caroline and so far she’s really only nailed the cow and dog so she mooooo’d at every animal. We’ve got a little bit of work to do.
