We met our new doctor yesterday and are in love! We spent an hour with him going through our chart from start to finish and never once felt rushed. He also gave us an U/S right there on the spot (free of charge) and told us that there is absolutely no reason to have concerns about growth. After reviewing the notes in our chart, he discovered that there was an old note from our 17 week anatomy scan that was never updated. Apparently Caroline was sucking her thumb and the U/S tech couldn’t get a good scan of her face/lips so she simply wrote “re-scan for growth” on my chart and it was never updated (or explained to us). So when another nurse saw me 8 weeks later she thought there were growth concerns based on our chart which scared us. But everything is great and we feel incredibly thankful and blessed to finish out this pregnancy with our new team!
How far along: 24 weeks…and in a blink of an eye, we are 6 MONTHS PREGNANT. I can’t believe how fast the time has flown by!
Baby Size: An ear of corn (8.5 inches, 1.5 pounds)!
Weight gain: Up another pound this week – 17 pounds total!
Maternity clothes: Totally. And I am getting so excited about all of the spring clothes I’ve been seeing lately too. I also ordered my maternity dress for my baby shower and am so excited!
Stretch marks: Earlier this week as I was laying down on the couch {in my tank top that only comes to my belly button now} Matt sighed and said “aww! Christina! I think I see your first stretch mark!” in the most endearing voice ever. I think he thought that would excite me but I’m sure you can imagine my response and my facial expression. Not to mention, the “stretch mark” he thought he saw was a faint beige line that was left over from the one and only growth spurt I had when I was 12 years old. ha.
Sleep: Waking up a lot to Caroline dancing around 4 am every day this week. I don’t mind though because I’ve wished so badly for these movements to come and now they are here – such blessings! To put her back to sleep I’ve been turning on some lullabies on my headphones and it seems to soothe her so mama can get some rest!
Gender: One look in her closet and it is extremely obvious. We are officially on pink dress overload! Thanks Mom!
Movement: Oh yes! For the first time this week Matt was finally able to feel Caroline kick. It is so surreal to feel it from the other side of my tummy now. Our new doc also informed us that I have an anterior placenta…no wonder it took me so long to feel those first kicks!
Best moment this week: Meeting our new doctor and registering for baby gear!
Looking forward to: Our babymoon this weekend in Charleston!
Food cravings: Eggs, orange juice, cereal, bbq and salads.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!
Labor Signs: No
What I miss: Getting in and out of the car easier. Since I am so short my steering wheel is close to my belly which makes getting out of the car sort of difficult.
Symptoms: Nothing really this week.
Nursery: We started shopping for a white dresser this weekend and had no luck, so the hunt continues for that. However, we did fill her closet and finish some touch-ups on our accent wall!
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Mood: Happy!
Workouts: 3 elliptical workouts and 1 cardio funk class!
Prayer for Caroline:
Dear Lord, It’s amazing how You think of everything. You’ve placed each part where it should be. As Caroline’s basic structures of her inner ear continues to develop this week, I pray for good hearing and that you keep her ears safe. Help her not to get earaches, as many young children do. I also pray that you give her a generous heart. There is no greater joy than giving to others, so help us to teach Caroline about generosity at an early age. Thank you for our sweet little girl. In Your name, Amen.
A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. – Proverbs 11:25

You look awesome, and I'm totally loving the earrings you're wearing!! The good new is we are going to have some seriously SUNNY weather this weekend here in Charleston, but it's going to be a little chilly! Enjoy your little getaway, I'm sure you both will have a fabulous time!! I haven't done cardio funk, I'll have to look into seeing what other types of classes my gym offers- besides yoga. How long do you do your elliptical workouts for? I've been doing the 30 minute bikini butt one you posted a few months ago- it's intense! Xo-Lsimplylowcountry.com

Have fun in Charleston this weekend. Unfortunately, after a rather warm start to the week, it looks to get chilly here this weekend. But I am sure you, Matt, & Caroline will still have a very relaxing time 🙂 Hope you are getting to enjoy a Restaurant Week deal!So glad to hear the new doctor is working out – bedside manner is super important, especially in an OB – glad you listened to your heart and changed.
You look stunning, Mama! Enjoy the belly dancing, it's the best! :)xoMeganHello Newlywed Life Blog
LOVE the closet! You look fabulous by the way!
You look amazing, so glad you like the new doctor!
i think you look absolutely gorgeous my dear…love all the little goodies hanging in her closet, too!!
You look great! I am 24 weeks pregnant as well and have an anterior placenta. I felt this babies' movements a little later than in my first pregnancy, but it's so fun to feel them now!
You get more and more beautiful each week! And, Oh, SIGH all those precious dresses make me tear up!
I cannot even begin to tell you how gorgeous you look…simply glowing! And how adorable are those little tiny dresses, I know she is going to be the cutest dressed baby girl!
You look fantastic, friend! I'm so glad you were able to find a new doctor that you are both comfortable with! This is an exciting, yet scary time in your life and you don't need any unnecessary stress! (Especially stress that, from the sounds of it, could have been easily prevented!) I understand the stretch mark fear. My belly was (much to my amazement) seemingly flawless up until a handful of weeks before delivery. I stayed rather small (people even acted like I wasn't getting "big enough",whatever that means!) until near the end as well. The last weeks I dropped and my belly got BIG. I guess it's to be expected since I'm only 5'2" and the husband is 6'2". I think when I dropped is when the first "omg, are those stretch marks??" freakout came and it was after watching a video my husband made of my belly. There was a little underlying part of my belly that in the last few weeks, I could not see for myself. Oh, I cried! I'd done so well right up until near the end! The next day I felt guilty for having been so upset (since baby is worth it!) and slowly got over it. The funny thing is after I delivered, those marks that I thought were stretch marks were nearly invisible (I'm not even quite sure yet that they were stretch marks..just waiting on my belly to continue "going down" post-birth.)Samara P.S.. I too have an anterior placenta so it took me longer to feel the kicks, too! http://www.samaraevangeline.blogspot.com
you look great! i love your sweater! 🙂 xo jillian – cornflake dreams
I'm loving all of your sweet little girl's dresses!! She will be such a well dressed babe :)Have fun on your babymoon!
I adore the sweet prayers you post for your precious girl! If the time feels fast now, just wait til she is here! My sweet boy is about to be two, and it feels like yesterday. Keep enjoying every moment. These are the sweetest times of our life! Love your cute, cute blog!
You are positively glowing with happiness. Yay for a great doc change! Aaaaaaand — maybe we will see each other this weekend?! 😉
Look at you! You popped overnight!! So happy for a new doctor switch that is leaving you feeling confident!
A great doctor really makes all the difference in the world. I had to rotate with 6 doctors but based my induction date on my favorite doctors schedule. Glad I didn't go into labor on my own!Love all the dresses! I learned quickly that dresses and crawling babies are not a good mix. After one too many face plants we only wear dresses for special occasions. I can't wait for my daughter to start walking so we can start wearing dresses again! Being a little girl is tough!
This is the first time I have read your blog. I loved the prayer at the end, what a beautiful legacy of prayer your daughter will have to look back on. It is very inspiring for me to remember to pray over every area of life.
I always enjoy your weekly updates!! It's kind of amazing how fast pregnancy flies by 🙂 Hooray for finding a new doctor that you LOVE!! Best decision ever to find a new one since you weren't thrilled with your first one. I'm sure it'll be a huge weight off your shoulders. I laughed at your stretch mark story with your husband. A similar thing happened when I was pregnant last year. My husband excitedly pointed out that I'd sprouted a few stretch marks (I guess he was excited the baby was growing…) and I burst into tears. I realize now it was a silly reaction but at the time I was less than thrilled for his reaction. Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy!! Smiles, Whitney
What a beautiful mama! Enjoy this special time. There is nothing like feeling your baby tumble around right below your heart.
So cute! Have a great time in Charleston!
Sweet friend – you are stunning!! I'm so behind in blog world, but an getting caught up with you girls right now. I just have to tell you….WAY TO GO for going with your momma instincts and switching drs! Y'all know what is best and are smart to have made a change if you had concerns! Believe it or not, I changed drs at 32 weeks and am SO glad I did. Sometimes you just know and have to act on that! So, so glad to hear that sweet Caroline is growing right on schedule and y'all have a new practice cheering you on!XO!
