Handy Homemaker Tips & Tricks

Here are 10 easy {and budget friendly} tips and tricks for all you homemakers out there!

1. If you add a slice of bread to a bag of homemade cookies the moisture from the bread keeps the cookies fresh! You can also use this for cakes, muffins, cupcakes, etc. to keep them from going stale. {Note: Don’t forget to replace the dried slice of bread with a fresh slice every few days.}
2. Revive your old nylon paintbrushes by soaking them in hot vinegar for 30 minutes to remove paint and soften the bristles. Afterward, wash them in hot, soapy water, brushing off paint as needed, then rinse and let dry—good as new!
3. Make perfect pancakes with an old ketchup bottle. {makes cleanup much quicker and easier!}
4. Use your muffin pan to make large lemon ice cubes!
5. Make your own air freshener with just 2 inexpensive ingredients!
6. Store your salad in mason jars. It will keep for 7-9 days longer than average and your lettuce will not turn brown or have wilted leaves. Also, easy to grab on the go, just add dressing!
8. Freeze leftover wine in icecube trays to cook with later. {I am still trying to figure out who has left over wine?}
9. Homemade Glue = Flour, Sugar, Water, and White Vinegar
10. Nail Polish as Key Coder. Differentiate your keys by color-coding them with your favorite nail polish. Lay keys flat and apply a thick coat of a different shade to the top of each one. {this furthers my Essie obsession}
