We had a great Valentine weekend! Actually, it was my favorite one yet. On Friday both of the minis had Valentine parties at school. Thomas had a breakfast party in his class and a few hours later we went back up to daycare for Caroline’s afternoon party.
I hope Thomas doesn’t mind that I’ve claimed him indefinitely as my Valentine. I am so obsessed with this adorable little man.
Next up was this munchkin’s party. Don’t let her cuteness fool you. Just moments before this picture was taken she had thrown herself on the floor in the middle of the hallway and hysterically cried over her paci (the item I’ve come to loathe) at home. But apparently a box of raisins cures a case of crocodile tears.
All her friends got boxes of magical raisins.
And all the teachers in both classes got Boom Chicka Pop…because it’s the most delicious popcorn ever.
The toddler party was such a blast that we let Thomas crash it. All eight tots were jacked up on cookies, laughing and chasing each other around tables. It was awesome.
The next morning I invited Aunt Jemima over to help me with a Valentine breakfast for the family. Caroline crushed her pancakes. And Thomas’s pancakes. The rest of the day we ran our usual errands and played at the mall for a bit.
Gone are the days of fighting the crowds for a dinner reservation past my bedtime. Saturday night I whipped up our traditional (post-kids) Valentine dinner – steak, twice baked potatoes and asparagus. For dessert I drizzled some caramel over a yummy Trader Joes cheesecake.
And we waited until the kids were sound asleep to enjoy it.
We usually keep our Valentine gifts pretty simple and this year Matt said he didn’t want anything at all. So I got him a card. And then he looked sad that I really didn’t get him anything after he opened his card. Soooo, I failed in the gift department. Oops. To make my gift guilt worse, Matt and Caroline surprised me with a few things from Nordstrom for Valentine’s Day. Lesson learned.
At least he liked his card. And dinner.
To continue feeding our pancake addiction we took the kiddos to IHOP for breakfast on Sunday.
And Caroline sang a birthday message to Aunt Lindsey!
One of my favorite highlights of the weekend though was when Matt surprised his sweet little Valentine with her very first bouquet of flowers – pink hydrangeas. She loved them and couldn’t stop smiling. It was a lovely Valentine weekend!
So much sweetness! I failed in the exact same way… Hubs said no gifts so he got a card then was secretly sad I didn't get him anything. Woopsies!
Your kiddos are so adorable! I love their holiday treats for their classmates and teachers! So creative! Glad you had such a nice Valentine's weekend!
I feel ya! We agreed no gifts this year. I had the kids give him a card and some of his favorite candy. I gave him a card. He in turn surpise me with flowers and a necklace from Kays! I felt AWFUL! Grateful, but awful. I did make his requested Vday dinner which was a true labor of love but still. Oh these men. Got to love them.
Thomas is looking so good!! Your classroom Valentines are all so cute!!! Caroline looks so satisfied with her flowers – that's actually the sweetest!! My dad always sent my sister and I Valentines only from him… definitely missed that this year… so tell Matt to keep it up. 😉
What a fun weekend and that was so sweet Matt got Caroline some pink hydrangeas!! Don't feel too bad about the gift thing… for some reason my husband thought we told each other no cards this year (we did not) but at least he remembered flowers – last year he he thought candy/cards meant no flowers for me lol
I can't believe how big Thomas is getting!! Also you are the sweetest mama with all of those Valentine gifts! I totally forgot to bring them for my son's daycare class and teachers! Mom fail.
What a wonderful Valentine's Day! Thomas and Caroline are too cute, and it looks like they had a great time! I also never get my husband anything big for Valentine's Day. It is usually just a card and beef jerky!
Awww I love that your hubby gave Caroline flowers! Soooo presh!
OH girl, I loathe the paci as well! We had the WORST time getting our first baby off of it, and now we're having a time getting our almost two year old to give it up. It's just a mess! Also, may I say that the picture of your Valentine's meal is simply fantastic! You could be a food blogger! Lol.
Such a fun weekend! Yall take the cutest family pics! I failed on the Vday gift thing this year too, not even getting Anthony a card and he got me something : ( Oops. I picked up the TJ's Cookie Butter Cheesecake this weekend, per your rec- and oohhh yes. Thank you for that evening treat!!
How sweet. Looks like y'all had a lovely Valentine's weekend together.
I love those little treats that you did! They are too cute! It sounds like your weekend was {lovely} :)xoxo, Brandi
That steak looks amazing. What is on top of it? Looks yummy!
You're absolutely right, Boom Chicka Pop IS the best popcorn ever. And Aunt Jemima came to our house for Valentine's too! She's such a popular auntie.
Such cute littles and their valentine's day cards were so cute and creative!
Love all your cute daycare gifts! I have absolutely been in the same boat when we've agreed on no gifts! Whoops. So jealous of all your pancakes. At nine months pregnant, I am seeing numbers on the scale I never imagined and am cracking down on myself on all the sweets I've been shamelessly eating.Caroline is so cute with her flowers. Precious.
Looks like the perfect Valentine's Day with all your lovebugs! And ahhh…the gift thing! Bryce did that to me on Christmas once! We were going on a getaway between Christmas and New Years and had agreed that the trip was our gift to each other, and then he went and surprised me with a gift!
Looks like y'all had an awesome weekend filled with love! I love your pink sweater – where did you find it?!
GAP! I have it in 3 colors because it is so comfy!!!
Aw, love the family selfie! What a sweet bouquet of flowers for a little sweetie. Also, I'm always so impressed with your creativity…the class/teacher gifts were perfect. Glad it was such a special weekend.
Sounds like a great weekend! And your hair looks gorge!
The cutest gifts and fun Valentines for you all – dads and their girls make me swoon!! x
Sounds like such a sweet Valentine's weekend! I love that you all keep it simple with steaks made at home – your dinner looked delicious and it sure beats waiting for a table at a restaurant! Every year, for every holiday/birthday my hubby says he doesn't want anything. I still usually get him something and I think that makes him pretty happy. I still that that even though he doesn't "need" anything, he likes to get a gift for a special day. I'm sure Matt wasn't too disappointed – but now you know that in the future you should just get him something anyway 😉
