A Backyard Dinner Party

As we enter summertime, Matt and I get party fever. We have several parties planned for the summer and I have a feeling there will be many more popping up in between. Last weekend we hosted 6 couples for a dinner party in our backyard. With the help of our good friends down the street we threw this party together in a matter of 6 hours!

Our backyard dinner party turned out to be such a beautiful evening under the stars! It all started bright and early on Saturday morning, as Matt and I frantically ran around trying to get everything ready. We made multiple trips to the grocery store, hit up Home Depot, and even found ourselves back at the store a few more times to make sure we had all the essentials!

The tablescape really brought everything together. We used six-foot folding tables from Home Depot, along with a homemade bench Matt built, which added a personal touch. The folding chairs and candelabras were borrowed from a friend, and I loved how the soft candlelight added a warm glow. For a simple yet elegant look, I used disposable Chinet plates, linen tablecloths, and a table runner I created from wrapping paper from Target’s Dollar Aisle. Peonies from Harris Teeter brought a lovely pop of color, and the candles made everything feel so inviting.

The weekend before, Matt and I hung up bistro lights in the backyard, and when the sun set, they really created the perfect ambiance. We snagged those lights from Target for just $12 a string, and they were totally worth it.

No party is complete without a little fun, so we made sure to have cornhole set up in the yard. Matt had built beer stands earlier in the weekend for another upcoming party, and he was excited to debut them a little early at this one!

The evening was perfect—dinner al fresco, surrounded by friends and family, enjoying great food, laughter, and an incredible atmosphere. It turned out to be exactly what I had hoped for—a beautiful and relaxed night under the stars, filled with good food and even better company.

I love your wrapping paper table runner! So cute and I never would have guessed it was from the Target dollar rack - it looks great with the peonies! :-)
