I am so excited to share one of our favorite fall recipes today — Two Ingredient Pumpkin Bread!
A recipe that calls for only two ingredients and two dirty dishes is always a winner in my book! This recipe doesn’t require your mixer ad is a breeze to whip up.
Since 2013, this pumpkin bread has been one of my top 3 recipe posts and has gone viral a time or two as well! It’s really that good. This bread is packed with warm fall spices, has the perfect crumb, and it’s so dang delicious that you’ll likely eat the whole loaf in one day! And trust me, that’s usually how fast every loaf goes in our house! So go ahead and plan to make at least 2 loaves!
We love this bread for breakfast, snacks, and dessert. We also like to change things up and make mini muffins or jumbo muffins for breakfast.

Pumpkin Bread Ingredients
- Spice Cake Mix: You are using JUST the mix! Do not add the additional ingredients listed on the back of the box. You will also use the cook times on the back of the box depending on what sort of shape you’re baking in (muffins, cake, bread loaf, etc.).
- Gluten-Free: If you are looking for a gluten-free cake mix option, I recommend Namaste Foods Gluten Free Spice Cake Mix.
- Pure Pumpkin: Make sure you are getting 100% pure pumpkin! And the 15 oz size.
- Additions: You can add so many fun things to this bread — chocolate chips, raisins, pecans, cinnamon chips, etc.!

My mom picked up the ingredients for this and left them at my house so I made muffins this weekend. I thought they were a little gummy but Blaire is gobbling them up! I'll call it a win! ๐
This looks totally easy and delicious and exactly what I'll be taking home for Thanksgiving. :)Thanks for sharing!
Have done the easy banana bread and it was a hit. Canโt wait to try the pumpkin recipe ๐
How many bananas did u use
3-2-1 Banana Bread
1 Yellow cake mix
2 eggs
3 very ripe bananas
Mix well. Bake 350F for 25 to 30 minutes. I use 2 loaf pans for small loafs. Bake more evenly….

I volunteered to bring pumpkin bread for Bosses' Day on Wednesday and I am now thinking I'm going to scrap my usual somewhat labor-intensive recipe and give this one a try. What a great idea!!

Bookmarking this and making it the second I have access to a kitchen! Yum!
I made this the other day. It is soooo good!
I have a question so we just add the cake mix with out the eggs and oil , water?
Correct!! You are ONLY using the cake mix!
That pumpkin bread looks so delicious! And easy enough even I might be able to make it ๐
For the pumpkin bread, do you follow the cake mix instructions and add the oil, eggs and water, mix and then add the can of pumpkin or do you just put cake mix in bowl, add the pumpkin and mix?
Thanks
U just use the cake mix and the pumpkin in the can. Just those TWO ingredients! ๐
You can also use that recipe but add chocolate chips and make pumpkin cookies!
Your bread looks gorgeous! Nicely captured. I then went on to look at the ingredients of the cake mix but was dismayed to see it's full of chemicals and Yellow 5 Lake. That's a shame.
Namaste box Spice Cake mix has all natural, plant-based ingredients. It is gluten free but I had a good experience using it instead of the Duncan Hines/Betty Crocker.
I will be making this ASAP! Thanks for sharing!
mmm i love pumpkin anything! i'll have to try this recipe soon. xo jillian – cornflake dreams
Must make this!
Made this yesterday and it was delish! My picky 7 year old even ate 3 slices.
Do you mix the cake mix o ly or do you mix the cake mix with the egg and oil then add pumpkin mix ???
This was the absolute best pumpkin bread I ever ate – and the first I ever made! I even added raisins and sprinkled jimmies on top. Fantastic!!!
I MAKE THIS ALL THE TIME! My grandma showed me it years ago. I always add 1 egg, 2 tbsp butter, a little sugar, some extra spice, and vanilla (you can never have enough vanilla!) The egg makes it extra fluffy. LOVE IT! <3
Love making this but I always have to bake it longer because it never bakes fully after 40 min for me. Otherwise its Soooo good!
I added 2 eggs! Came out great!! Made 4 mini loafs! Preheat oven on 350! Bake for 30 minutes!!
Do you mix the dry cake mix with the pumpkin and bake? Or the prepared cake mix as indicated on the box then add pumpkin?
Just the dry mix and can of pumpkin……weird but it works
Do I mix the cake mix first according to directions or just add pumpkin to the dry mix?
So it's just the cake mix and add the Pumpkin puree or do you mix the cake mix as shown on the box then add the Pumpkin puree
So it's just the cake mix and add the Pumpkin puree or do you mix the cake mix as shown on the box then add the Pumpkin puree
What size of can did you use, the regular or the size can.
Iโm wondering the same thing so please post if you find out
15 oz can
I make muffins and add 1 egg and Hershey’s cinnamon chips. ALWAYS A HIT!!
I absolutely LOVE this recipe!!!
I had been looking for a pumpkin bread/muffin recipe that didnโt include oils. This evening I used the recipe and made regular size muffins and they turned out perfectly. The real test was when my โtaste testerโ husband did an official taste test….drum roll please….he loved them!!!
The muffins were moist, the awesome pumpkin flavor shined through, and the cake mix added the right amount of spices and such. As muffins, they are easy to pack for lunch!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful easy to make delicious recipe. It is nice addition to our family favorites!
We just made this delicious pumpkin bread with our kindergarten class. It was perfect!! We used an instapot to bake the bread and the classroom smelled great! Thankfully be bought enough to bake it twice. We ate both loaves in one day!! We are looking for other two ingredient things to bake in our class instapot now!!
Oh my! Genius. What are the instructions for baking it in the instaPot??
I made lemon bars by mixing one box angel food cake mix with 1 can of lemon pie filling. It was a little spongy, but still tasty. I sprinkled a little bit of powdered sugar over the top to make it pretty.
Looks wonderful,
What size pumpkin do you use for this?
Looks good but had trouble getting it to cook through completely. Kept adding time. Still a little mushy inside. Dissappointed. Was for Thanksgiving.
I am looking for cranberry sauce bread using a cake mix to make it with . Cranberry bread is good but can you a cake mix then bake it. I love 2 or 3 ingredients bread recipe because the easy & quick way is for me. I am 75 but like to make bread that is quick to fix & bake. Let me know on my email please [email protected] please soon.
OMG, you just hit my sweet spot! I am going to make some cranberry bread this week, but I think I’ll try it with butter pecan cake mix instead of spice. Or maybe even yellow cake! Mmm, with pecans! If it doesn’t work, the next time I’ll try it with an egg or two. Thanks for the idea!!
I make muffins using these ingredients. SO good!!
Can you freeze the bread once cooled?
YES! Absolutely!
How many loaves does this make! And do I use loaf pans.
