Five on Friday!

Christmas is in exactly TWO Fridays!!!! Are you ready?! I SO AM!!

one. A few weeks ago my friend Lisa was over sorting through my crockpot collection for an upcoming party. When I asked her if she needed a mini crockpot she laughed and asked what in the world I would ever use such a small crockpot for? Matt asks me that same question at least once a year when he goes on a cleaning spree and threatens to toss it out. But for real, I have used it once for 16 ounces of cheesy Rotel dip! Anyway, over Thanksgiving in the mountains I saw my mother-in-law using her mini crockpot to fill the cabin with the amazing smells of Christmas! It never occurred to me that I could simmer my Stovetop Christmas Potpourri in a crockpot! So you better believe my mini crockpot has never seen so much action as it has in the past few weeks! Find my recipe here!

two. On my wedding day I wore MAC Twig lipstick and loved it so much that it’s the only color I’ve ever worn ever since! It’s one of those colors that looks good on anyone which is probably why it’s a makeup artist’s go-to lip color. Anyway, a tube usually lasts me a very long time which is why I don’t mind splurging on it but about a year ago I stumbled across the perfect dupe – Rimmel Kate Moss #104. It truly is an equally amazing lipstick in every category – color, quality, lasts all day, etc. But this version can be found at any drug store for around $5 (a quarter of the MAC price)! Anyway, I wanted to share it with you in case you’re making a suggested stocking stuffer list for Santa!

three. As the “room parent” for Thomas’ class I have to stay on top of the teachers gifts throughout the year. For Thanksgiving we just give each teacher a card from the class but for the same price ($3!!!) I found super cute ornaments at Target. So in lieu of a card I signed all of the babies names on the ornament as a keepsake gift! The teachers absolutely loved the idea so I wanted to pass it on to y’all in case you are looking for something fun and sentimental to give your kid’s teachers for Christmas!

four. I shared this photo of the babies earlier this week after one of my expander fill appointments. I was so happy to not be in terrible pain after this particular fill so I pulled my minis into bed with me for awhile. How cute are their matchy matchy jammies?

five. Earlier this week I attended a really fun ornament swap! More details on that to come but I wanted to share the most delicious (and dangerous) punch that was served. Everyone kept talking about it and asking the hostess for the recipe. It’s called Mrs. Holiday Punch and if you’re hosting a holiday party, I highly recommend serving it! You can find the printable recipe here.

That is THE best idea to use the mini crock as a warmer! Can't believe I didn't think of this sooner! Thanks for sharing and happy Friday to you! Hope it's a merry little weekend for you :)

Five on Friday!

It’s been a wild week! Not only is it my last full week of maternity leave (I return to work on Thursday) but Matt has been out of the country all week for a bachelor party. Yes, a bachelor party. In Germany. I am pretty sure I was still medicated after birth when I authorized the trip. But we’re surviving over here on our own. I commend all of you mamas who do this on the regular! Since Caroline was born Matt has never spent the night away so it’s been super weird for all of us! Pretty sure he shed some tears before he even made it to the airport.

– one –  9/11 – a day I’ll never forget. I am thinking about and praying for all of the families and heroes who were affected by the 9/11 terrorist attack today. It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than 10 years since this awful tragedy.

– two – I made the cutest cupcakes earlier this week for my friend’s birthday! Posting the tutorial and recipe next week!

– three – Trader Joes roundup. I thought it would be fun to share a few things I regularly throw into my cart when shopping at Trader Joes…

olive oil (we really love all of the TJ options so I try and switch up what I grab) // chocolate chip cookies // mini chicken tacos (perfect for toddler meals!!!) // goat cheese (I usually stock up on these big time. So cheap!) // wine, wine, wine // sesame honey almonds (you must try these if you haven’t had them before) // cookie butter (no explanation needed) // mandarin orange chicken // flowers (duh)

Would love to know some of your favorite TJ items too!

– four – For the Labor Day holiday we brought our circus over to our friend’s house down the street for dinner. We had the best time.

And the adults actually got to eat dinner uninterrupted thanks to Carolines’s fascination with Kid Cuisines. Corn dogs, french fries, corn and a brownie, all smothered in ketchup and separated by individual squares? This girl couldn’t shovel her dinner fast enough into her mouth.

– five –  Bedding refresh! Did you see my post earlier this week? I am so in love with our new look in our master!

Five on Friday!

The weekend is here! The weekend is here! On the agenda…a 2 hour prenatal massage followed by a mani/pedi date with a girlfriend on Saturday. And if I’m not too noodle-like afterwards I plan to finish packing the hospital bag, take pictures of our finished nursery and bake, of course!

On to the 5…

 – ONE – New favorite dessert alert! This week we ate extra light dinners just so we could splurge on banana sundaes for dessert. For our masterpiece, I start with pineapple Greek frozen yogurt, add sliced bananas, sugar-free caramel syrup and top it all off with sprinkles and cherries. I only have a few more weeks with an excuse to really indulge so I’m taking advantage of it.

– TWO – Earlier this week we took “Parenting 101” at the hospital. We had pretty low expectations but the 3 hour class proved to be super helpful. Matt and I walked away with tons of information (that we definitely did not know before) about sleep, diapering tips, tummy time, swaddling, bathing, feeding, etc.! As you can see, never a dull moment in class with Matt…

 – THREE – The bath tub is my absolute happy place these days. Pre-pregnancy I was a quick 20 minute bath taker. Now I can soak to the point where Matt gets worried and comes to check on me. The tub is really the only place I can relax without back pain so it’s my new favorite place to check my email, blog, etc.

– FOUR – It’s the Masters weekend, which means the hubs will be out playing his annual round of Masters golf with the guys and grilling out afterwards. Earlier this week the cutest “Sweet Tee” golf layette arrived in the mail from Baby Aspen and Matt could not have been more excited about it so we made a deal. If Caroline makes an early debut during the Masters tournament, she can come home from the hospital in it instead of the outfit I already have picked out.

(Shhh, don’t tell him that there is no possible way she’ll fit into a 0-3 month outfit at birth.)

And speaking of cute outfits, you can never have enough sleep sacks, right mamas? I owe a huge thank you to Personal Creations for sending me the cutest custom Halo sleep sack! If you’re looking for a unique personalized gift for someone special, check out their website. They have lots of cute items.

– FIVE – Just in case any of you are judging me for my sundaes, I thought I’d mention that my Post-Pregnancy workout DVD came in the mail this week! I know I won’t have much time to work out during maternity leave so I froze my gym membership and hope to squeeze in quick sessions with my girl Tracy in the comfort of my living room.

Oh, that bath looks and sounds delightful. I'm the same way. I was never much of a bath taker, but while pregnant, I loved taking baths. It was so relaxing and felt great on my achy body.
