Gift Guide: Little Girls (Ages 5-8)

It’s hard to believe we are in gift guide season! I had planned to wait until Halloween to launch my guides but y’all are already shopping! — and many of you are even DONE! So I’m going to push these out as I get them finished instead of holding them and publishing them all at once.

This year I’m launching my Little Girls Gift Guide (Ages 5-8) first! This guide is always the easiest (and one of the most fun) for me to pull together. In fact, Caroline helped me pull this year’s guide together, and all of these items are either products she has and loves or are on her wish list for this year! I hope you find something for the little lady in your life!

Note: There are actually two separate guides in this post — ages 5-7 (which is last year’s guide with all the links updated) and ages 6-8 guide (brand new guide this year). Make sure to read some of the notes too for helpful information. And as always, THANK YOU for shopping through my links! Your support truly means the world to me.

  1. Skipidipi Disc: I’ve already purchased this for Caroline this year! I’m really excited about this retro “Skipit” toy. It’s also a fun way to improve coordination and encourage outside play.
  2. furReal Poopalots Big Wags Interactive Pet Toy: There are a bunch of animals you can buy from the collection and Caroline has two of them and thinks they are hilarious. You can walk, feed and clean up after these little pets.
  3. Make Your Own GEM Keychains: Caroline received this as a birthday gift this year from a friend and absolutely loved this kit. She spent hours decorating all 5 keychains and then gifted them to her friends on the last day of summer camp — it was so sweet!
  4. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: The Illustrated Edition: The Easter Bunny brought our first Harry Potter book to Caroline and it has been such a fun family experience! We are now on book #4 and read it every night as a family. The illustrated version is definitely worth the splurge and is especially perfect for introducing this magical world to younger kids!
  5. Reversible Sequin Secret Diary: Caroline’s favorite place to pen down all the names of her crushes.
  6. Barbie Deluxe 20-Piece Glitter and Go Styling Head (also available at Walmart): Every single night Caroline brushes and braids her Barbie’s hair while I do the same to her. It’s seriously the cutest.
  7. Mermaid Fin: The best toy of summer! I cannot tell you how much time Caroline spent pretending to be a mermaid in the pool this year. This fin is worth every penny and more!
  8. Water Rocket Kit:  Thomas received a Rocket Kit from one of his friends for his birthday last month and it has provided endless hours of entertainment for our kids…and all the neighbor kids too. This stem toy is seriously impressive (and slightly terrifying – ha) and blasts insanely high (90 feet!!!!) into the air. I cannot recommend this rocket high enough. It is so fun, the kids were able to put it together on their own and it’s really durable (I expected it to break after hitting the ground a million times but hasn’t)!
  9. Magic Tree House Boxed Set, Books 1-28: We received this collection passed down from a neighbor and Caroline (and Thomas) both love it. And it was highly recommended by Caroline’s teacher too!
  10. Our Generation Dolls: Caroline begged for an “American Girl” doll for awhile and a few months ago we surprised her with Target’s version after she was awarded “Leader of the Week.” This entire collection is massive and selecting a doll from the aisle at Target was pretty difficult. And once you select the doll, there are a million accessories, clothes, pets and play sets you can purchase for your doll. Highly recommend sending this to grandma and grandpa to tackle — let them go wild with the accessories.
  11. Barbie Dreamhouse: Caroline’s favorite birthday gift this year. I still can’t get past the fact that it has an elevator. She plays with this house all the time.
  12. Kinetic Sand Sandisfactory Set: It’s no surprise this is one of Walmart’s “Top Rated Kids Toys” for 2021. Our kids went through a LOT of kinetic sand during quarantine — great rainy or snowy day activity too.
  13. Sorry Board Game – Giant Edition: The giant version of a classic game. Our family plays a lot of board games and this one is on Caroline’s wish list after spotting it in Walmarts “Top Rated Toys” list for 2021!
  14. HALO Supreme Big Wheel Scooter: One more Walmart “Top Rated Toys” gift! We have scooters already, but this one is better than ours because it features lots of adjustable settings and is easy to fold and store (making it the perfect for travel too).
  15. Personalized Bean Bag Chair: So many cute designs! I love how you can personalize these chairs too.
  16. Shaggy Head Puppy Sleeping Bag: The perfect sleepover sleeping bag.
  17. YAMAHA P71 88-Key Weighted Action Digital Piano: Caroline and I are both learning to play the piano right now and I spent a TON of time researching keyboards and polling y’all on which one to get. We ended up with this one because it was specifically recommended by several piano teacher readers and features a full keyboard with all 88 keys. We also received advice that if you start small, you’ll just end up buying a bigger one down the road so it’s better to invest upfront. It also features weighted keys which feels more like a real piano.
  18. Bow & Arrow Set: I’ve blogged about this set a few times. It was a pandemic purchase that our kids still love and use all the time. My advice is to go ahead and pick up some extra arrows and stash them in the back of your closet for when you need them!
  19. The Floor is Lava: Our favorite game to gift for birthday parties. What kid doesn’t love pretending the floor is hot lava?!
  20. Bead Set: If you’re a friend, teacher, bus driver or family member of Caroline, odds are strong you’ve received a handmade bracelet from this set. We’ve gone through a trillion beads in our house this year.
  21. Personalized Apron & Mitt Set: Personalized (for free!!) one of these cute aprons to surprise Caroline with on Christmas!! There are so many cute patterns to pick from and each apron includes a gorgeous custom leather tag.
  22. The Original AirFort — Build A Fort in 30 Seconds: I LOVE a toy that can be built in seconds and is easy to break down and store! The perfect toy to travel with for (road trip) vacations too. There are lots of colors/themes to choose from. Don’t forget to grab a box fan!
  23. Nail Stamper Deluxe Salon with Dryer for Manicures and Pedicures: Caroline has and loves this set. It comes with 4 nail polishes, 8 patterns and a ail dryer.
  24. Disney Princess Cookbook: To go with Caroline’s new apron (#21), I scooped up this simple cookbook that includes 50 beginner-friendly recipes, including dishes like Rapunzel-inspired Frying Pan Eggs, Tiana-inspired Bayou Meatloaf, Moana-inspired Te Fiti Tropical Punch, and many more
  25. Echo Dot Kids with parental controls: Our kids LOVE their echo dots and use them to listen to audio books and music, ask a million questions, set timers, etc.
