Meet our Day In The Life guest writer, Addison! She’s a health food influencer in Dallas, and makes the best gluten-free, dairy-free cookies ever. She is passionate about her business, and I want to eat everything she eats in a day.
A Day In Addison’s Life
Hello! My name is Addison and I am so excited to take you along on a day in my life. I am a 30 year old healthy food influencer and gluten free dairy free bakery owner in Dallas, Texas.
I start my days around 7:30/8am and spend the first hour of my day answering emails, posting and engaging on Instagram, and posting on Facebook. I post a different recipe every single day on my influencer account (@organicallyaddison) and on my business account (@sweet.addisons). I make it a point to answer every single DM I receive and to get my inbox to zero.
My mornings typically include a few Zoom meetings. As I am building this direct to consumer e-commerce bakery, I mostly meet with wholesale suppliers, my digital marketing agency, fellow food brand founders, and mentors. Since I work alone most days, I love having Zoom calls! It is so nice to be able to talk many different facets of business with various people in the food industry. My business, Sweet Addison’s, is my first product-based business so I have had to learn a lot very quickly to avoid expensive mistakes.
The mornings are so packed that I typically don’t find myself getting hungry until midday. Every single day I eat 3 hard boiled eggs and sugar free bacon from Trader Joe’s. I’ve always been someone who needs a LOT of protein to function (I aim for 100 grams per day). This meal keeps me fueled and energized for hours.
After my morning meetings, I head to the commercial kitchen in Dallas and bake for several hours. During this time, I also package and label the finished baked goods. Then, I will fulfill orders by packing boxes, printing shipping labels, and dropping off the orders at the UPS store.
I usually get home in the early evening and will make a big snack! Almost every day, this is a big bowl of unsweetened Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and grain free sugar free cereal all mixed together. This high-protein snack also keeps me full.
I love going to a workout class or for a run around 5 or 6 pm as a way to mentally finish the work day. Don’t get me wrong – I work until midnight or 1 am every night, but this signals to my brain to take some time to myself. I love to run but it’s very hot in Dallas in the summer so I will sometimes go on the treadmill or attend a workout class. I love HIIT classes to get my heart rate up.
When I get home, I will shower and call my parents. My parents live in Maine, where I was born and raised. I love living in Dallas, but I miss my parents so much. We talk for at least 30 minutes every night while I clean, do dishes, and prepare dinner. It is always the highlight of my day. I will also ask them which Sweet Addison’s dessert they ate that night!
Since I love high-protein foods, I always make meat and potatoes for dinner. This usually consists of chicken, steak, or pulled pork with sweet potato fries. I use my air fryer every single night and love that it makes the crispiest fries! I typically eat dinner around 8pm and work/answer emails as I eat. One night a week I will go out to dinner with a friend. Dallas has amazing restaurants and it’s been fun exploring so many fun options.
After dinner, I will answer emails, upload new recipes to my food blog, write email newsletters, reach out to retailers to carry my products, check LinkedIn, photograph recipes and content, etc. It depends on the day and what is the most time-sensitive.
Around 10pm, I usually have a snack of rice cakes with all-natural creamy peanut butter and sliced bananas. I could eat a pound of peanut butter every day and not get sick of it.
I usually work until midnight, sometimes 1 am. Then, I grab two Sweet Addison’s cookies (yes, TWO!) and climb into bed. I will scroll Instagram and TikTok for about 30 to 45 minutes, checking new trends, answering DMs, engaging with other accounts, and watching stories. Since I work hard all day, I allow myself this little wind-down routine.
As much as I would love to sleep earlier, this time in my life is dedicated to growing my business. I know that one day I will sleep more, but for right now, I am so focused on my career and bringing better for you desserts to the world. I feel incredibly grateful that I love what I do!
My cookies and brownies are available for nationwide delivery (Christina loves them!). Check them out at http://www.sweetaddisons.com and please feel free to use code WELCOME10 for 10% off your first order. Thank you so much for following along a day in my life!
