Rounding up my favorite new items (and a few product refills) from Amazon this month…
Top 5 Reader Favorite Items for June
- Insect Repellent Spray: From my Summer Camp Packing List post, this spray works SO well to protect from ticks, mosquitos, chiggers, spiders, etc. for up to 6 weeks. Use it on all of your camper’s gear and outerwear ahead of sending to camp.
- Wall Calendar: I shared some advice I received from a reader a few years ago to buy an academic year calendar instead of a standard year calendar and it really has been such a simple but incredibly useful tip that I wanted to pass on to YOU! Instead of my calendar running out during the crazy holiday season, I start a new calendar in June which kicks off summer for us. (Tip: THESE are the magnet hooks I use. They are strong and don’t scratch the fridge.) Also, another reader shared a really great idea of tearing out a few pages each year to save in my kids’ keepsake bags so one day we can look back at what filled our days! LOVE THIS!
- Mosquito Dunks: Time to refill those Mosquito Buckets of Doom!!
- Mosquito Repellent Patches: We’ve used these for two summers now and absolutely love them for all of our summer outdoor activities. We even used them for camping in the woods! If we’re playing at the park or in a backyard, I’ll stick a patch or two on the back of the kids’ shirts to help keep them mosquito-free. And if you see me outside this summer, you better believe I’ll be sporting a few green dots too. Tip: Don’t forget to remove these from your clothes before washing!
- Girls Butterfly Shorts: A hit from my Boys & Girls Summer Staples post, these are Caroline’s favorite shorts that she wears just about daily now! They are flowy and breathable (perfect for hot days) but also have a compression liner underneath that allows shorts to stay in place while being active.
Pupamigos Dog Toy
Mabel received this toy from some friends for her birthday and it is SO hilarious and cute! She loves it!
Cooler Side Tables
We purchased two of these outdoor side table coolers for the pool deck, and not only are they really pretty, they double as a cooler! The lid rotates out and you can fill the cooler with ice to keep drinks cold for up to 12 hours. These are one of my favorite finds this year!
Fly Fans
We use these fans all summer long for dining outside! They work so well to keep the flies away!
Makeup Brush Cleaner
I just purchased a second bottle of this highly effective makeup brush cleaner. If you hate washing your brushes, this cleaner is for you. You can tackle this chore in under 5 minutes with this stuff. No water or rinsing is required and my brushes are dry in 5 minutes (gone are the days of laying my brushes out all night to dry)! The cleaner also conditions the brushes and smells good! Highly recommend!
Bumble & Bumble Hair Thickening Spray
I honestly do not share this product enough (probably because I’ve been using it for so long and it’s not a “new find!”). However, if I could only keep ONE hair product in my collection, this thickening spray would probably tie with my Hair Vitamins (WHICH ARE ON BIG TIME SALE) — although they are two very different products that do different things.
Every time I blow dry my hair, I use this spray and the difference in the volume and thickness of my hair is noticeably different — like big time. If you already have thick hair, you probably won’t need this, but if you don’t, I promise you this will be one of your favorite products too. There’s a smaller bottle option if you want to try it out before committing to the larger bottle.
Summer Porch Planters
I finally added some planters to my front porch! My concrete planters are from Amazon. Here’s what’s in them: lavender tree, creeping jenny, potato vine, white petunias, and diamond snow. They are really pretty and very lightweight!
Platform Summer Sandals
My feet really hate all my cute, flat sandals these days. I can only wear them for a very short period of time otherwise my feet get so sore! So I’m in the market for comfortable shoes that offer good support and are cute. And I’m really happy with the first pair I’ve purchased this season — these platform sandals by Reef. They check all my boxes: cute, comfy, supportive, and bonus — they are water friendly too, making them perfect for the pool. They come in a handful of really pretty colorways.

Have you tried Fit Flops, Vionic and Olukai sandals? They are made with more arch support.

Hi! I have never commented before, but felt like I needed to provide another perspective. I can appreciate the linked content because I know otherwise we would not get the more lifestyle focused content. There is no way Christina would continue to work so hard on this blog if she was not being paid someway. This online world is changing so much and so fast and somehow she has managed to do this for a very long time while still providing the content we came here for in the first place. I will say I do not have social media so maybe the links are more prevalent there, but I can still appreciate a post like this even if I am not purchasing anything. We also have the choice to decide it’s not for us anymore!

Alexa, I cannot tell you how much this means. Truly. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so grateful to be able to work on Carolina Charm full time, but it does come with added pressure to hit sales goals to stay in programs that help me keep my website running! As much as I looooooove this space, I definitely wouldn’t be able to contribute the amount of time I currently do if it wasn’t helping to support my family. I’ve learned I cannot make every reader happy, but I do try really hard to stay true to my content! I am so thankful to have you in this community all these years! Thank you again, friend!! xx

I 100% agree with the above. I don’t even have an Amazon account. How much stuff do we all really need? I miss the old days of blogging that was about actual life and relationships. Not the next fast fashion item or home decor (for what?). It’s all so damaging to the Earth. We don’t ‘need’ any of it. Reading link after link (let’s face it, all posts have links) does not give a good feeling.

I've been reading your blog for a long time and noticed the increase in Amazon content over the last year or so as well. I love to see productivity posts, new recipes, vacation planning, and DIL, and if you're interested I would love party planning, budgeting tips/tricks, planning home renovations, etc... Thanks!

Same. It's a little overwhelming how wasteful and damaging all this Amazon consumption is. Sort of dystopian!
Bring back the old stuff. Not everything has to be monetized.

Appreciate you taking the time to leave this feedback, Jackie! What sort of old stuff are you looking for more of?
