We recently completed our last big renovation project for our home — the kids bathroom! We’ve lived in our home since 2017 and have done a LOT of work on our house (one project at a time), saving this project for last knowing it will inevitably end up with toothpaste all over the walls. The project took about a month to complete and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! The before and after photos of this space are wild to me and it’s hard to believe it’s the same room when I compare them!
Alright, here is a reminder of what we were originally working with…
And here is the finished space!
In case you missed them, you can find all of our before photos in my Kids Bathroom Renovation Plans post and a deeper dive covering various aspects of the project along the way in my Kids Bathroom Renovation Progress post.
Our Contractor
We again used Atreum Construction since we’ve had such great experiences working with them over the years and they did such an amazing job. They are reliable, do an excellent job of staying on top of construction debris/dust throughout the project, are so very thorough, completed the project on time and we absolutely love their crew. And for this project specifically, I was really grateful for their recommendations on how to reconfigure the layout a teeny bit by relocating the linen closet to the other side of the vanity to really open up this space (it feels SO much bigger now!).
Here is what we tackled in the renovation:
- Replaced the porcelain tub with an alcove soaking bathtub
- Replaced the fiberglass shower walls with subway tile to ceiling
- Installed a new fan, vanity lights and added recessed lights
- Installed a new vanity with double sinks and quartz countertop
- Replaced the linen closet with a linen cabinet and relocated it to other side of vanity
- Replaced floor tile
Our Interior Designer
We again used Crystal Nagel to help us with the interior design. For this space, we opted for a more classic, neutral look that would grow with the kids but incorporated some fun design elements too. Additionally, it was so nice to have her on speed dial when questions popped up during construction that I had no clue how to answer.
Minted Art
The last finishing touch was selecting artwork to really make the space pop! And I was thrilled to partner with Minted on this part of the project not only because they offer a huge gallery of options, but the design tools and services are amazing (and are offered at no additional cost).
You can visualize Minted Art in your home by using Minted’s mobile AR tool to visualize art on your walls or you can text directly with a Minted stylist. So after I narrowed down my favorite pieces of art to a handful, I texted a photo of my wall along with the pieces I was considering to 415-993-WALL (9255), and a Minted stylist texted me back with renderings of what the art would look like in my space! I was so torn on whether to hang one large piece of art or two smaller pieces, frame color, print versus canvas — and this was so incredibly helpful.
Here is an example of one of the renderings…
And here it is brought to life — 11 x 14 Tangerine Canvas Print (classic white frame) and 16 x 20 Canary Sun Canvas Print (classic white frame).
Want to add some art to your space? Minted is offering 10% off all art for new customers with promo code CHRISTINAART2022. Code does not expire.
