Xcaret Hotel Mexico: Our Honest Family Review

So, let’s talk about Xcaret Hotel Mexico—because honestly, it was an incredible trip.

We went with some of our best friends for spring break, and it was the perfect time of year to go. The weather was gorgeous—not too hot, just warm enough to enjoy everything without feeling like you’re melting. It’s one of those resorts that has EVERYTHING—tons of adventures, chill vibes, and the kind of experiences that make you feel like you’re living in a dream.

We had an amazing time, and I’m excited to share all the things that made it such a memorable trip. From the beautiful views to the adventurous activities, it definitely exceeded our expectations. If you’re thinking about going to this all-inclusive resort, I’d highly recommend it!

So, here are a few things we especially loved about our time at Xcaret Hotel Mexico!

Xcaret Hotel Mexico Resort

Xcaret Hotel Mexico Is A Stunning Property

This resort is huge, but don’t let that scare you—by day two, we had it all figured out. The layout is thoughtfully designed, blending perfectly into the lush greenery, crystal-clear lagoons, and serene coastline. It’s the kind of place where you can explore all day, but still feel relaxed and not overwhelmed.

Everywhere you look, there’s something cool to discover—hidden hammocks, caves to explore, and even secret waterslides tucked around the property (I still don’t know if we found them all)! It feels like a hidden paradise, with gorgeous buildings that look like they belong right in the jungle, yet it never felt crowded or chaotic, even with kids running around.

We were completely blown away by the beauty of the place from the moment we arrived. The resort offers the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, with plenty of nature to explore and no shortage of cool spaces to chill.

The River Jump Suite Is Really Cool

The River Jump Suite was such a fun room for our family, even though it was a bit snug for all four of us. But honestly, it was totally worth it for the experience. The best part? The platform right off our room that led straight into the lagoon. The kids loved jumping in and swimming around each day—it kept them entertained for hours, which was a lifesaver, especially when we were rotating showers or trying to relax after a busy day.

Our friends stayed in the room next door, and the kids had a blast bouncing between both platforms. It was like a mini water activity just for them, and they made the most of it every day. The view of the river from the room was so peaceful, and the whole vibe felt like we were in our own little paradise.

Having that extra activity built into our room made it feel like our own private little adventure, and honestly, it was one of the highlights of our stay.

Tip: These rooms are so unique, but there aren’t many of them on the property, so be sure to book early if you want one—they go fast!

The Food And Beverages Are Really Good

I’ll admit, I had low expectations when it came to the food and beverages at an all-inclusive resort, but I was quite impressed by how good everything was at Xcaret Hotel Mexico.

From multiple buffet spots serving fresh, flavorful meals to plenty of bars—both walk-up and swim-up—there’s no shortage of options. The top-shelf liquors included in the all-inclusive package were a major surprise. We had so many amazing spirit options, and they definitely didn’t skimp on quality. The cocktails were fantastic, and the service was spot on.

Tip: Our favorite round of drinks to order were frozen espresso martinis! They were SO good!

Xcaret Hotel Mexico Restaurant Highlights

Of course, the buffets were a big hit with the kids. There was always something fresh and flavorful to try—whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner—and the variety kept everyone in our family happy. But when we could convince the kids to eat somewhere other than a buffet, we had some really memorable dining experiences. My personal favorite? The cave restaurants!

  • BIO: This plant-based restaurant is set in a stunning natural cave overlooking the river. We dined here for breakfast most mornings during our trip, and it was always amazing. From the fresh juices to the beautifully presented dishes, everything was top-notch. The serene setting made it the perfect spot to start our day.
  • Las Cuevas Steakhouse: Located inside natural caves, this was my favorite dinner of the trip! Think of it as a Brazilian steakhouse, but way better. The vibe is so unique—it’s intimate, cozy, and feels a little magical dining in a cave. The service was amazing, and the food? Incredible. We were treated to a variety of meats that kept coming and coming (just how you want a steakhouse experience, right?). Honestly, it’s an experience you won’t forget, and the setting alone makes it totally worth it.
  • Las Playas: This beachside spot was such a great find! We went for lunch, and the vibe is super laid-back, with swings at the bar—how fun is that? While we were waiting for our food, the kids loved playing on the beach right there, which made it feel even more relaxed. The food was delicious, especially the fresh seafood, and the whole setting was just perfect for a chill, breezy meal.
  • Teatro del Río: Definitely make sure to reserve a night for this experience. You get a delicious tasting menu, and then you’re treated to a show of music, dance, and traditions that’s just so much fun. Matt was absolutely blown away by the show—he couldn’t stop talking about it afterward! If your kids aren’t into the fancy 5-course meal, there’s a kids’ menu too.

All-FUN Inclusive

Okay, so Xcaret Hotel Mexico takes the whole all-inclusive thing to the next level. It’s not just about the meals and cocktails (though, let’s be real, those are amazing).

The best part? The All-Fun Inclusive package, which includes unlimited access to all the Xcaret parks. You can go back to the parks as many times as you want—no extra fees or stress about purchasing tickets for every activity.

In my opinion, the park access is what really makes the price worth it. When you compare this to other all-inclusive resorts, you realize how much value you’re getting. Normally, you’d be paying an extra fee to get into the parks, but here, it’s all included.

Getting to the parks couldn’t have been easier. Shuttles arrive constantly, and the longest we waited was maybe 10 minutes—so no stress at all, which is a major win when traveling with kids.

We visited 3 parks across 2 separate days during our vacation. We spent one morning at Xenses, which was kind of like a real-life Ripley’s Believe It Or Not—fun and mind-bending.

Then, we had a full day of park-hopping between Xcaret, Xplor, and even Xplor Fuego. Xplor was definitely our favorite park—there’s SO much to do, and we did it ALL. From ziplining through the jungle to paddling through caves, we were never bored.

One of our favorite highlights was riding the amphibious vehicles through the jungle and water—it was such a unique experience! The 3-mile course took us across hanging bridges, narrow roads, flooded caverns, and provided spectacular views of the jungle. (Tip: definitely bring your sunglasses for this one. We kept everything in a locker the whole time and really wished we had grabbed them because the path can get dusty, especially when you’re driving behind other vehicles.)

Another favorite was the Underground Expedition at Xplor, where we explored 800 yards of caves, rivers, and jungle trails, plus two slides for a little extra thrill. Don’t forget your closed-toed water shoes for this one!

And OMG, the Toboganxote! This exhilarating 5-in-1 waterslide that ends in a wave pool was unbelievably WILD. Definitely do it!!

We also did the Underground Rafts at Xplor, which I would skip next time—it was way more of a workout than we expected. Paddling through caves with glove paddles was tough on the arms.

One more tip for Xplor: In the evening, the park closes briefly and then reopens as Xplor Fuego, which is REALLY cool. Torches light up the park, and most of the activities incorporate fire. Definitely save ziplining and the hammock splash for Fuego so you can zip through a ring of fire in the jungle. (Looking back, I would probably visit Xplor in the morning for some activities, head back to the resort to relax, and then return for Xplor Fuego after dinner for a fun, fire-filled night!)

Xcaret Hotel Mexico Park

One of our favorite surprises about the All-Fun Inclusive experience at Hotel Xcaret Mexico was all the plenty of fun on-property too. We loved the mariachi bands that marched through the pool area at least once a day. It was such a fun and lively way to experience the music and energy of Mexico, and the kids absolutely loved it. Another unforgettable moment happened while we were relaxing at one of the lagoons. Out of nowhere, a group of performers paddled up in a canoe and gave us an incredible tribal performance right on the beach. The show was beautiful and one of those “wow” moments that really stuck with us.

We went to the sister resort that is adults only right down the road from the family resort last year for spring break and absolutely loved it. I agree. The property is stunning and it was a wonderful resort. We did a couple side excursions and lots of beach time so didnโ€™t make it to the waterpark but thinking we need to go back and hit it next time! I thought the service at our resort was excellent and all staff went above and beyond every day.

Just curious how many days and nights you stayed and if you felt it was sufficient timing or too long/short!

We stayed 5 nights and it was perfect -- 2 adventure days and 3 resort days! Any shorter would be hard to do if you want to hit up the parks!
