Five on Friday!

 Happy Friday!

one. We spent last weekend at Matt’s parents’ mountain home to celebrate his dad’s birthday. I snapped a few adorable pictures of the kiddos running around in the fresh mountain air!

two. About a month ago Matt and I finally upgraded our iPhones so we could actually rely on our phones. We’ve been out of contract forever and my friends would often make fun of my dinosaur aged phone. Anyway, I realized that my wi-fi camera card wouldn’t sync up to my new phone and learned it wasn’t compatible. So I wanted to share the new model I purchased and LOVE — the EyeFi Mobi SD Card. If you carry your DSL camera around and want to easily sync your photos to your phone you need this!!!!

three. I have to thank everyone who posted their favorite Trader Joes’s cheap red wine recommendations a few weeks ago on this post. I scooped up almost all of the red recommendations and can now say we’ve tried them all. I actually liked every single one but ordered them by favorite from left to right. The Moon X actually would have won first place but the dang bottle doesn’t fit in my wine rack which annoyed me. Also, the orange Griffone bottle used to be our go-to red that I’d stock up on but as you can see you all have steered me to new and better bottles, so thank you!

four. Three of our friends celebrated first birthdays for their little boys this past week! It has been such a joy watching all three of these little men grow over the past year. For their birthdays we gave each of them two of our very favorite things: A copy of our favorite book, You Are Special by Max Lucado, and our favorite Bible Songs CD. If you don’t already own this book you must buy it. Fair warning, you won’t get to the end without tearing up but it is SO worth it. Caroline has many of the pages memorized and it’s her and Thomas’s favorite bedtime book.

five. HelloFresh Meal of the Week winner: Rapid Butternut Squash Agnolloti with Kale in a Sage Brown Butter Sauce. Also, I have three new promo codes for free boxes to give out to a few first timers! I’d be happy to send the first 3 people to leave their email address in the comments a free week of HelloFresh to try!

Want to try HelloFresh? Use promo code MG8GKD for $40 off your first box!

I am always up for a few good wines to try. I tend to stick to my "safe" favorites until I get recommendations. And yum...the butternut squash recipe is going to be a must try for me. My favorite recipe that I tried this past week was pesto salmon baked in tinfoil in the oven with asparagus...oh my word, delicious AND healthy. It fell apart in my mouth. I shared the recipe and a few others on my blog if you are interested!XOXORachaelhttps://aduchessandablog.blogspot.com/

A wifi SD card has been life changing for me! I never use my phone to take pics, mainly because the camera isn't that great, but I'm so used to my DSLR that it comes everywhere with me now. Beautifully Candid

Our favorite kids CD is anything by the band Slugs and Bugs- check it out!! They have some fun silly songs, some Christian songs and some straight scripture that is great for scripture memorization. Plus as a bonus, the music is not obnoxious and you can tolerate it in the car- sort of bluegrass style. Anyway my 2 year old loves all things slugs and bugs so check it out! If you fall in love, they currently have a kickstarter going for 2 new CDs and if you contribute you can get some rewards like the new music. Wanted to share :) also so glad to know the Max Lucado book comes as a board book- we have the hardback and i have given it as a gift but its such a treasure I hate to let my 2 year old get her hands on it

Five on Friday!

First, I want to say thank you to all of you who reached out to me in response to my Day in the Working Mama Life post! You certainly made me feel like I have my stuff together when truthfully I oftentimes feel like a huge mess, succeeding in one area only to fail in another. So thank you for all your kind words!

And to the stay at home mamas who sent me kudos on “doing it all”…HA! I have something to say to you (which I have already told many of you offline)…

Dear Mamas, I don’t know how YOU do it. No, seriously. You operate on the same amount of sleep that I do but without child-free coffee runs throughout the day. Your clients require 24 hour assistance with sippy cup refills, potty escorts and so much more. Throughout the day I work on projects with deadlines and you work on a toddler schedule. While I run from conference calls to meetings, you are busy running from play dates to play grounds to keep your kiddos engaged and happy. You don’t get paid time off or sick days. And while you don’t miss any of your baby’s “firsts,” you also don’t miss a diaper change, a feeding or a tantrum. You pick up endless messes, your home is loud all day and your “breaks” are for eating or showering. So while our days may look different, you are the true hero and I admire you so!

one. Pampers Points! We recently redeemed TWO YEARS of Pampers Points for a tricycle for Caroline! If you are a Pampers user you should absolutely be submitting your points! Like many of you we spend a fortune each month on diapers and wipes. So with two kids in diapers it is easy to rack up the points. We cashed in 6,500 points for the tricycle and gave it to Caroline for her birthday. And she loves it. If you also have 2+ kids in diapers (or even 1 kid) you may be thinking “I don’t have time to cut codes off packaging, log-in to the Pampers website to submit a code for 30 points!” I agree with ya, mama! I rip the codes off the packages as we go through them and store them in a little pile. When I have 2 free minutes I use my Pampers app to scan them all in at once. Done. And now we have a free tricycle for the kids to fight over.

two. Austin’s Dig-it 2nd Birthday Party! Last weekend Caroline celebrated her best friend from school 2nd birthday. Upon arrival each kiddo received a shovel to dig in mini pools filled with sand and bugs and insects! They also received canvas aprons to collect their bugs in. I’ve never seen Caroline so excited about a scorpion, centipede, spider, etc. We will totally be adding some bugs and insects to our sand boxes for Thomas’ birthday party. Such a cute party theme!

three. Matt and I cut carbs recently so we’ve been eating a LOT of meat, which means I’ve been frying lots of bacon. I love using the tip of running your bacon under water before cooking to reduce shrinking and I’ve totally seen a difference! And it seems to cook better!

four. Last week we attended Food Truck Friday with 8 other families. It was SO HOT, maybe too hot, but all of the kids had a great time running around, eating grilled cheese and chips. And they collapsed into bed without a fight.

five. I’ve loved hearing from many of you that you purchased Couples Table Topics for your next date night!! I also wanted to let you know that Table Topics comes in lots of other sets too – Girls Night Out, Family, Grandparents, Teen, Cocktail, Therapy, Road Trip, Dinner Party and more!!! There’s really an edition for every occasion and these make for fun gifts too!

Happy weekend friends!

I love your shout out to SAHM's, your so sweet! I read your day in the life post and totally thought (and still do) the world of you and other working Mom's! I think there are so many challenges to either working/non working and we are deserving of the kudos, appreciation, and utmost respect! I especially love following along with you because I soon will have two little one's (16 mo apart) and I am so scared of how it's going to be! Your definitely an inspiration and a sign of relief when I feel like there's no way I can survive! Haha! :)

Five on Friday!

Happy Friday, friends! Thank you so much to all of you who linked up with us last week! It’s been one heck of a week and I am so thankful it’s finally FRIDAY! I have a girlfriend coming into town this weekend and am pumped for a girl’s night out. Also hoping to bake up a few fall treats.

Let’s get down to it!

– ONE – We brought home a few pumpkins from the patch last weekend and I decided to “decorate” them a bit differently this year. Matt’s idea was to carve one of them out and take pictures of Caroline sitting inside (hmmm, secretly surfing Pinterest?). Anyways, I quickly recommended a far less messy idea – wrap them in fishnet stockings and call it a day. I think they look so cool and it took me less than 1 minute to decorate them. Oh, and I didn’t have to scoop out goo. Win!

You can find my painted pumpkin tutorial {here}.

– TWO – We were BOOED this week! My neighborhood is so fun and there are always little pranks going on year-round. A few weeks ago there was a giant stuffed animal being moved from porch to porch as a joke and it was so funny to see it circulate the neighborhood. So it came as no surprise when I arrived home from work to find I was booed!

Want to boo someone in your neighborhood? Get the game going by downloading the printables {here}!

For my turn to boo some neighbors I picked up some mini Halloween cupcakes. I really wanted to make pumpkin dip for my treat but since the gifts are supposed to be left anonymously Matt said that would be super weird.

– THREE – Since these pretty much only happen now when the paint has completely chipped off my toes I thought it was important to document my solo pedicure date last weekend.

– FOUR – Our teachers at daycare send us pictures often throughout the day of Caroline and this week we received one of my favorites – Caroline passed out from her buggy ride (and can we please talk about how she’s sucking her thumb these days!?!?!).

– FIVE – Remember the amazing giveaway we announced last week!? The contest is officially OPEN!

The rules are simple:

1. Link up with us using the Linky Tools feature below.

2. Mention the Five on Friday giveaway, display our logo, and link to all four of our blogs.

We will use random.org to select a winner and verify the above steps have been completed. Good luck!

I love your decorating ideas! I never would have thought to throw a fishnet on a pumpkin! What a great idea!

Five on Friday!

Happy Friday! Looks like we have another rainy weekend on the books. That’s okay because that just means we’ll need to stay inside and work on nursery projects. And tonight we have a triple date of mexican food and a movie. I am so ready for 5 pm already!

 – ONE – New lipstick and a new planner. Is it just me or is a new tube of lipstick one of the most amazing treats ever? I just love breaking in new lipstick and a new planner! The colors I picked up from MAC are Twig and Plumful.

 – TWO – I know, I know. I am always blogging about tulips, but I just
can’t help it! Matt brought me 3 bunches of white tulips home about a
week ago and they are still going strong on our mantel!

 – THREE – Earlier this week I had a random craving for Taco Bell. I don’t know why because it’s probably been 3+ years since I’ve frequented that drive thru but I couldn’t resist. I opted for the new potato tacos and was actually impressed! Taco Bell has totally stepped up their game!

– FOUR – A whole new set of OPI colors!

– FIVE – I baked two batches of Funfetti cupcakes last weekend – one for the baby shower and one for Matt. We’ve been eating these all week long so they deserved another shout out.
