If there’s one thing I’ve been looking forward to this holiday season, it’s Christmas Mahjong. And my Merry Mahjong party theme might be my favorite yet. Think tropical meets festive, but in the chicest way possible. I wanted the vibe to feel elevated and celebratory with lots of pink, red, fresh greenery, and just the tiniest nod to Mele Kalikimahjong. It ended up being such a fun twist on classic Mahjong, and my girls absolutely loved it.

Christmas Mahjong Party Setup
I wanted the table to feel bright, tropical, and festive without leaning tacky, so I anchored everything with pink and red tones mixed with fresh greenery along with a few faux bird of paradise stems tucked in. The chandelier was dressed in pink ornaments hung with red velvet ribbon, which gave the room such a pretty vibe once the lights were dim and the sun started to set.

Of course, I brought out my favorite Sunshine Tiles from Middle & Main Mahjong. They are Florida-inspired and were perfect for this theme. If you have been eyeing them, you can use code CAROLINACHARM10 for 10% off your order.

Christmas Mahjong Snacks and Sips
For snacks, I set out bowls of my current holiday obsessions, Peppermint Drizzilicious which disappeared instantly, holiday Nerds Gummy Clusters, and Trader Joe’s peppermint white chocolate-covered pretzels.

And then there were the bam birds! My bam bird cocktail glasses absolutely stole the show with their tiny Santa hats perched on top. It was one of those details that the girls noticed immediately, and everyone kept talking about them all night.

The bam birds were filled with my signature “Bam Bird Martini” mahjong cocktail which is technically a pear martini! It is citrusy, slightly sweet, and feels extra special served in a fun glass.
Bam Bird Martini
My signature mahjong cocktail - it is citrusy, slightly sweet, and feels extra special served in a BAM BIRD cocktail glass!
Ingredients
- 2 ounces pear vodka (Grey Goose La Poire)
- 1/2 ounce elderflower liqueur
- 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 to 3/4 ounce simple syrup
Instructions
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until the outside is frosty. Strain into your bam bird glass and garnish with a pear slice.

We played several rounds, chatted nonstop, and made our way through plenty of martinis.
The prizes were extra fun too because everything came straight from my PR closet, which made for a bit more competition than usual!
We also celebrated our friend Julie’s birthday during the party, which added a little extra sparkle and the most delicious homemade Nutella cake to the afternoon!

This Merry Mahjong afternoon was one of my favorites yet. It had just the right mix of festive and tropical with a girly Christmas twist that felt fun, cozy, and a little bit magical. I could not love this group more.
