I love a fun themed mahjong night, and this Mardi Gras Mahjong might be one of my favorites to host. It’s the perfect excuse to gather friends, get festive, and create an evening that feels a little more special than your typical game night. From festive snacks and French 75 cocktails to jazzy music, cozy attire, and plenty of mahjong, every detail came together in the most fun way.
Whether you’re planning a Mardi Gras celebration or simply looking for a creative girls night theme, a Mardi Gras Mahjong night is an easy way to bring people together while keeping things relaxed and festive. I’m sharing all the details below so you can recreate the night yourself or use it as inspiration for your own themed gathering.

Side note: If you are trying to track down a King Cake around Mardi Gras, Publix carries them for less than $15!
Mardi Gras Mahjong Snacks
I always love to scatter snacks around our mahjong table. Here was my line-up: Popcorn, Nerds Gummy Clusters, Werther’s (our old lady candy requirement for every mahjong night), Unreal Dark Chocolate Covered Peanut Gems, MadeGood Chocolate Chip Cookies, White Fudge Dipped Pretzels (that I drizzled with lavender candy melts) — and of course, King Cake!
Admittedly, I know very little about Mardi Gras traditions. However, I’m married to a man who lived in New Orleans for several years and knew to put the baby IN the King Cake for me!
My Shopping List
I found beads, coins, and napkins at Party City. The final touch was yellow and purple tulips.

Mardi Gras Mahjong Cocktail
For our French 75 cocktails, I used Empress 1908 Indigo Gin to give it that gorgeous purple color. These were SUCH a big hit! You can never go wrong with a French 75 though, am I right? Even if you aren’t a gin drinker, I promise this cocktail doesn’t have any gin taste at all!

Indigo French 75
- 1.5 oz Empress 1908 Indigo Gin
- 3/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1/2 oz Simple Syrup
- 2-3 oz Champagne
- Garnish with Lemon Twist

It was the perfect mahjong night with girlfriends! You can find a few video snippets of our night HERE!
