Homemade Taco Seasoning
Yields approximately 1.25 cups of taco seasoning {which is more than 10 packets of store bought taco seasoning}!
- 1/4 cup Ground Cumin
- 1/4 cup Garlic Powder
- 1/4 cup Chili Powder
- 1/4 cup Onion Powder
- 4 tbsp Crushed Red Pepper
- Mix all ingredients together! Store in freezer.
Back to the tacos…
Next, grab your favorite salsa {grab fresh salsa if you can}. The jars have more sodium than the kind you can find in the produce section. I’ve been using Jack’s Special Salsa.
Season your chicken breasts with your taco seasoning and place them in your crockpot. Then dump your salsa in.
Cook on high for 4 to 6 hours or on low for 6 to 8 hours. When done, the chicken should shred easily when stirred with a fork.
And that’s how you get dinner on the table in less than 5 minutes.

- Pour salsa over chicken.
- Cook on low for 5-6 hours (or high for 4). When done, the chicken should shred easily when stirred with a fork.
- Spoon chicken into hard or soft shell tacos. Add avocado, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese or any of your favorite toppings!

This is one of my favorite meals...and you're right, so easy! Thanks for sharing your taco seasoning recipe. I know it's so easy to make your own, but I always seem to be picking up one of those seasoning packets. Now I am ready for next time!

This look super yummy. I'm not a pinterest gal.. although I do have an "account". I'm totally writing this down and trying it. We aren't a big chicken eating couple but we've tried new things lately and have had good luck (I've had stomach issues after having 80% of it removed). The Mister will be happy about this recipe!
