I have another room to share with y’all today — the playroom, which is arguably my favorite room in the house. As I’ve mentioned too many times, a dedicated space just for our kiddos is something we have wanted so badly for awhile — in part for the kids, but mostly for us (ha!). As you may recall, in our previous home our family room had slowly transitioned to a play room over the years. We constantly had to move furniture around or out of the room completely just for the kids to have floor space. It wasn’t the end of the world obviously (and I didn’t have a “play room” growing up either and I think I turned out fine!) but there is absolutely nothing more satisfying than letting the kids destroy a room and…just…shutting the door. Can I get a hallelujah?!Welcome to our playroom!
In fulllllll disclosure, I need to tell you that this is the absolutely cleanest and most organized the play room has ever been, in part because Matt kept Thomas distracted while I snapped some pictures.
I have blogged about our play kitchen a million times but it has seriously been one of the very best toys we’ve ever purchased. A first birthday present for Caroline, this toy has grown with both kids through the years. And it doubles as storage for the rest of our toys, including play food, utensils, pots & pans. You can also find this kitchen in a variety of colors and styles here.
The little rocking chair has been passed down for generations in our family and I love it so much!

What a gorgeous play room – perfect spot for your kiddies! I love the clean and real life versions!Haha x
I am LOVING your new home! It seems perfect for yall and it looks fantastic! I am impressed how quickly it's all coming together, too!
I absolutely love your home tours. Really, any of your blog posts. I literally laugh out loud at the comments about the markers and rug. And the final "real" picture. You have a beautiful family and home and you keep it real.
It looks perfect!! I laughed about the markers – good plan!! Love that you repurposed things!!
This is awesome- what a great, bright and open play space! Lucky kiddos! I was hyperventilating a little over the markers, thanks for explanation. haha (or wondering what the heck was wrong with my kids that I couldn't fathom having them within reach haha). Tell is a crayon eater so art supplies are practically contraband to Lawter if he's around. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home pics!
I love it, it looks amazing!! You're doing such a great job. We've been in our new house 7 months and I still haven't finished unpacking (shaking my head).
I love your play room!! We have one as well – but it hasn't been remodeled, or even decorated, yet! Your orange cubes are genius! I'll keep those in mind when we finally get to re-doing the kids space 🙂
I LOVE this room!!!! I'm going to have to hold myself back from getting "WE NEED A NEW HOUSE!" envious but I looooove everything about this playroom. The curtains! The bright orange storage bins! The white frames! Maybe one day we'll make our bonus room an actual playroom, since we aren't using it (beyond housing our cats – true story). The only unfortunate thing is it has very little light, has a treacherous staircase, and an attic space that could be super dangerous. Love playrooms with french doors (so you can spy on them but also shut)!
Absolutely precious! I want a separate playroom SO badly! #Goals
YAAAAAAAAAAAS!!! Love those curtains!!! And I SO agree. Conner's stuff was taking over the keeping room so we literally enclosed our screen in porch to make it a sunroom for him and his stuff. We LIVE in this room now!
The room looks fantastic!!!
The playroom is perfect!! Can you come do mine?!? And those curtains, I die! I want them!
Love it!
I love it! The real life picture is my favorite because that is my house. Haha. Love those orange storage boxes and how you organized the toys. So many fun memories will be made in this room!
Fantastic playroom! I would love to have a room dedicated to the ever growing toy collection. I also just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. I'm a fairly new follower and rarely ever comment on blog posts but I had to take a moment to tell you how nice it is to follow a fellow working mom, who makes realistic/simple/delicious recipes (many I have made and LOVED) and who just all around keeps it real. Thank you for sharing your life with us!
I LOVE the curtains. They really make the room! If you wanted to add a little color to the wall with the toy storage, you could do colorful mats in the frames instead of the white. I sure wish we had a playroom like that!
Absolutely love this room- so cute! I'm a big believer in the kids having their own, separate spaces too so the rest of the house isn't so chaotic.
