We have some big news to share…
WE ARE MOVING!
We are staying in Charlotte, but moving out to the suburbs. While I knew this move was in the cards at some point in our future, I definitely did not think Matt would get me to move out to his dream neighborhood this soon!
As my longtime readers may know, we absolutely love our home so much and have poured a tremendous amount of love into it since we purchased it in 2017, so it is incredibly difficult for me to say goodbye (Matt moved around a lot growing up and doesn’t get attached to homes the same way I do) but we are all looking forward to making our new home feel like ours.
There were a LOT of factors that went into our decision to move but more space, the schools, and a large neighborhood full of young families and lots of amenities were big ones. We are thrilled to be able to host both sides of our family in our new home now, and it was important to us to have more play space for our kids (and their friends) especially as they continue to grow.
We are also so grateful to have longtime friends (who actually found the house for us — a story for another day!) in the neighborhood. And the kids have already begun playing with new friends on our street which has been really fun to watch.
While there are so many exciting things to look forward to, I have struggled the most with this move as it comes with a tremendous amount of change — new restaurants, doctors, dance studio, church, and eventually, school. It was important for us to find our next home and get settled before Caroline enters middle school, but this home and the timing fell into place a little sooner than we expected. However, both kids will finish up their school year at their current elementary school and will change schools at the beginning of next year. We are all pretty sad to leave our sweet elementary school, but are looking forward to being able to bike to our new school where lots of the kids’ neighborhood friends also attend.
And we aren’t moving quite yet! We’ve got some serious cleaning to do, lots of wallpaper to remove, and are finishing some renovations before we move in (we handed the keys to Atreum on closing day!). There’s a very long list of projects to tackle over time and I can’t wait to bring you along as we make this house our home (hopefully soon)!

So excited for you and cannot wait to see your new home! Congratulations and Good Luck π xx
So nosy and you do NOT have to answer but as a local reader Iβm like βwhich suburb was Mattβs dream?!β (Iβm in lake Norman area myself and I love the βlake lifeβ but you seemed in close proximity to some of the stuff I imagine being closer to! Grass is always greener I guess!) π€£Congrats on the move-I hope all goes well as you adjust those many things you listed! Itβs nice that you have some time to finish out the school year.
Local reader too and Iβm wondering as well lol! We live in S Charlotte, close to the border and your neighborhood sounds like ours! Congrats on the new house!
Congratulations to you and your family!! Excited to see you decorate the new home!

Congratulations!! Thatβs exciting but, I understand itβs also nerve racking. Our last move was the hardest for me as well as we had started to really set roots. But, Gods got you & will be right there with you – lean into Him!
Congrats on the new house!
Local reader here too, I live in the Lake Norman area and I always wonder how families end up in the direction they do!
When we first moved to CLT, we lived in South Park but our jobs brought us closer to Lake Norman.
Completely understand the nerves! My grandparents stumbled across a new build area in town in 2021 and after seeing details it was my dream home in my dream area. Next thing I know I’m selling my house and building which is something I never thought I would do. Building was incredibly hard with all the decisions to make, constantly checking on progress, and the delays. I’ve been in my house since June 2022 and I’m soooo in love it and have the best neighbors so it was worth it in the end. Congratulations on the move!
I am so excited for you and your family! I am also so excited to follow along on all your projects! YAY! Congratulations!
Wow! What exciting news! Congratulations and canβt wait to follow along. I love a good house renovation. Such a sucker for those! ππ₯³π₯ And here I thought you were getting a dogβ¦π€£
So fun!! Congrats, but give us some pictures!!!! Can’t wait to see what y’all do!
I’m so excited for y’all! Being in a place that is very well suited for your family will make life easier, I can assure you! Can’t wait to see the renovations!
Congratulations!! We all know it was really the woodpecker that prompted this decision π
