Literally, all you have to do is dump angel food cake mix and crushed pineapple in a mixing bowl, give it a really good stir, and bake it! Yes, that is really it!! You’re going to find yourself making this classic dessert for every backyard cookout, gifts for friends and neighbors, summertime parties, and so much more.

Cake Mix Pineapple Dump Cake Ingredients & Baking Tips
As I mentioned, this dessert comes together with just two ingredients. I recommend stocking up on both ingredients for keeping on hand when you need to whip up a treat last minute.
The toppings are optional. You can enjoy the cake straight out of the oven, or top it with whipped cream, powdered sugar, and a cherry or slice of pineapple!
- Angel Food Cake Mix: Make sure you use an Angel Food Cake Mix that that only requires water. The mixes that require eggs or other additional ingredients will not bake correctly.
- Baking Tip: Don’t grease your pan before adding the batter. This recipe works better without cooking spray!
- Cupcakes: Reduce your bake time to 25 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted.
- Crushed Pineapple: You’re going to use the entire can — no need to strain or drain it.
- Optional Toppings: The cake is so good on it’s own, but you can really make it sparkle by dusting some powdered sugar on top and serving each slice with a dallop of cool whip. Top with a cherry, slice of pineapple or coconut flakes. And if you really want to take it to the next level, serve it with a scoop of ice cream.
- Baking Dishes: For one cake, you’ll want to use a 9×13 baking dish or a Bundt pan. For two cakes, you can use two 8×8 baking dishes. The dish pictured in my recipe is an 8×8 baking pan. You can also use a muffin tin.

Pineapple Dump Cake
This Cake Mix Pineapple Dump Cake is a light and fluffy two ingredient tropical dessert that you’re going to want to make all spring and summer!
Ingredients
- 1 Box Angel Food Cake Mix
- 1 20 oz Can of Crushed Pineapple
- Optional Toppings: Powdered Sugar, Cherries, Sliced Pineapple, Coconut Flakes, Cool Whip.
Instructions
- Combine Angel Food Cake Mix and crushed pineapple in a bowl. Mix thoroughly by hand until well combined.
- Pour mix in a 9x13 baking dish (or two 8x8 baking dishes).
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes for 9x13.
- Dust with powdered sugar on top and serve each slice with a dallop of cool whip. Top with a cherry, slice of pineapple or coconut flakes. And if you really want to take it to the next level, serve it with a scoop of ice cream.
