Helloooo Friday!! I wish I had a more clever intro for this post but am lacking in the creativity department this week. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t have 5 great things to share! Shall we get down to it?
– ONE – I think one of the best things about this week was the fact that I am already down 4 pounds from my salt-free diet. I’ve never been able to lose weight before without starving myself so this came as a surprise. Well I have to be honest, kicking salt has realllly limited the foods I can eat so I guess I kind of am starving myself to an extent. I’ve been eating lots of plain oatmeal with fruit for breakfast, a medley of black beans, rice, avocado, onion and tomato for lunch, fresh fruits and veggies for snacks, salads for dinner and Greek yogurt popsicles for dessert. Plus I’ve been putting in my time at the gym each day. So hopefully some of those LBs aren’t just water weight!
– TWO – You may remember my splurge on Benefit’s they’re real Mascara I wrote about {here}. Although I absolutely love the product, it’s just too expensive for daily use. So I am saving it for the weekends and going back to the old faithful Maybelline Great Lash. Lucky for me, I scored several tubes at Ulta for $1.99/each this week!
– THREE – I owe so many of you a huge “thank you” for posting your
favorite summer reads. And because it would only be fair to share, I’ve
compiled all of the recommendations below in case you need a new book to
dig into too:

– FOUR – I thought I’d showcase a few of my most favorite office supplies. Can you tell I love color? The brightness doesn’t stop at just my supplies, I keep my whole office colorful. Hey, if I am going to spend 8 hours a day in one spot it should be bright and pretty! You can find other posts about my office decor {here} and {here}!
– FIVE – I am totally obsessed with my polka dot planner {from Target, of course}. Maybe it’s because August is definitely panning out to be the best month yet this year – two vacations, an engagement, a trip home and big changes for the hubby {his law firm was acquired by a larger firm in town – so proud}!
Wanna join Darci, April, Natasha and I on the Friday fun? You can link-up on any of our four blogs every Friday! All you have to do is…
1.) Write your post about five things you’re lovin’ this week (or any five things you want to share!).

I LOVE your pen holders, so cute! And your planner is also adorable. I have to get myself one soon!
Congrats on the weight loss, that is so exciting and it definitely sounds like you are working hard at it! Also- LOVE the book list, I am constantly struggling with what to read next! Hope you have a great weeekend
Very cute planner! I have an obsession with them myself, actually my #1 on my Five today was my planner ha! Where did you find this one? Love the gold dots!–Megan
love the book list! I'm a fan of John Green's "Paper Towns," and if you like nonfiction, David Sedaris will make you laugh out loud!
Thx for the listing of the recommended reads! I headed out and picked up the Aviator's Wife yesterday – not sure if I'll be all into it or not….Have a great weekend!
That's a great list of summer reads! Shauna Niequist and Veronica Roth are both fantastic authors. I also love Elizabeth Kostova's The Historian, which if you like history is especially a great read.I love how colorful all your office supplies! I love your planner, too; where did you get it?
I recently started a new "diet" too, more like a new way of eating, and I seriously miss things like tortilla chips / cupcakes / cheese. Do you think you'll allow for a cheat day once a week? I think I'm going to have to if I want to stick with it! I love your office supplies! I always buy new back-to-school stuff even now that I'm a SAHM and don't teach any more. It's all so much fun!! PS. David Sedaris is hilarious! Love all his books. He is "smart funny" for sure.
I'm sad I missed out on that mascara deal. I love that stuff!
Christina,My doctor put me on a low-sodium diet for a few months. I had to stay under 1500 mg a day. It was difficult! Basically, nothing pre-packaged! If you want to add some meat in you can season with Mrs. Dash! Also, if you're craving a sandwich, roast beef and swiss cheese are the lowest sodium deli items (specifically low-sodium Boars Head). Haley
We are trying to stay below 1500 mg a day too and it's SO tough. Using LOTS of Mrs. Dash! 🙂 Thanks for the sandwich rec! 🙂
August is busy for you! So fun, love those pens too BTW 😉
Great job on your weight loss already!!! :)Love your handwriting and that planner – so pretty!!!
I am in the market for a new planner! What kind is yours and where did you buy it?
Target!! 🙂
1.YAY MATT! that's so exciting! 2. i LOVE those papermate pens! i have them in my office too!3. i was *this close* to grabbing a salad at crisp last night! hate that i didn't run in to you gals! brother called wanting all you can eat enchiladas at three amigos – jealous?!4. i can't believe you've lose 4 lbs already! i'm thinking i need to go grocery shopping this weekend – more fruits and veggies, less enchiladas ;)have a great weekend!! xoxo
I'm so impressed with your weight loss this week!! 4lbs in a week is a huge success! I gave up carbs before my wedding in June but have since fallen off the bandwagon, and I think it may be high time to get back to the plan.
I've bought that same planner from target for like, 4 or 5 years now. I LOVE it! though yours is much cuter with all the colorful ink you've added 🙂 Congrats to Matt!
Mmm Greek yogurt Popsicles?! Did you make them or buy them? I always go back to the maybelline mascara too. Oldie but a goodie. 🙂
I'm so thrilled to find that awesome list of book recommendations! Thanks for posting those and for hosting this fun link-up. I too love the colorful Paper Mate pens and use them in my planner… they are so fun.
$1.99?! That is an amazing deal! I hope that deal is still going on!
I need to bookmark that reading list! I'm always looking for great new fiction. By the way, it's Dorothea Benton Frank (not Denton), and I agree…her books are AWESOME!Loved visiting your blog!Cindy at Notes in the Key of Life
Just purchased the paper mate pens and planner at Target myself!! Going down "that" aisle is pretty much a necessity every time I'm in Target. Even though I know I have already seen everything on that aisle – always gotta look just in case something bright, new and fun as appeared ;o) Thanks again for the 5 on Friday link up :)Kristen O.
i am ALWAYS so impressed with your penmenship my friend…it's so cute and the drawings make it even better!! i have the gold striped planner so we're almost twins 😉 OXOX
Sharpie markers are the key to a happy calendar!!
I'm so excited for Matt, what awesome and well-deserved news! Love seeing that wine date on the calendar for next Thursday 🙂
Way to go on the weight loss! And for doing it in such a healthy way! Thanks for sharing the book recommendations – I'm always looking for something new to read! I'll be consulting this list next time! I have to say, I am surprised to see Maine was recommended by more than one person – I REALLY disliked it. Ha! But I still want to read J. Courtney Sullivan's next book because I enjoyed Commencement.
GREAT deal on the mascara! And I am loving that adorable planner too..even more soo with a week reserved for Mexico 😉
I totally have an office supplies addiction and LOVE those papermate flair pens. And I love how you've color coded your planner! 🙂
You have the cutest handwriting and cutest office supplies! Love it!
this series and you girls are adorable! glad to have joined and found ya'll!Lauren
So many great destinations in your planner! I have a bit of an office supply addiction myself. I have to stay out of Target during back to school or I'll have a million pens, pencils, planners, notebooks, etc. It's crazy. Happy Saturday!
I am your newest follower and I love your blog. and MEXICO super jels have fun cant wait to see pics.
Congratulations on the weight loss, my dear! That is super duper awesome and exciting although you were such a tiny little nugget before, I am not sure why you are losing weight in the first place! You are a busy little bee with funness on the schedule for August. I will definitely be trying out some of these reading suggestions. I also recommend The Fault in Our Stars, although it is very sad. Also I quickly and easily read 3 Sarah Addison Allen books at the beginning of this summer. I highly recommend The Girl Who Chased the Moon and Garden Spells. Super quick and fun and kind of magical. Would make nice books for the transition btw summer and fall I think 🙂 XO
I'm so late to the game on this one, but I was wondering if your pens/markers bleed through the pages of your planner. I had a very similar planner in my cart at Target over the weekend and put it back on the shelf because I was afraid my Sharpie pens & Papermate markers would bleed through the thin paper…
Thanks for the book list, I'm always looking for new books to read!! And congratulations for you diet! I can't wait to get back to work and find my rythm because I ate so much this summer!!!Anyone can do five on friday? I love reading your blog!!
