This Week’s Top 5 Reader Favorites
- THE BEST UNDIES!! Top seller BY FAR!!! See #3!!
- Dog Puzzle: Mabel got this fun dog puzzle from the Easter bunny and it has been excellent for keeping her busy for a bit while I get things done! Highly recommend — especially if you work from home and your dog loves a lot of attention! I do suggest taking the toy away as soon as your dog finds all the treats so he/she doesn’t start chewing on it!
- Lip Glow Oil from my Mother’s Day Gift Guide! I love color: Rosewood.
- Raffia Platform Wedges: Still in the top 5! I have been wearing these cute raffia platform wedges (pictured below) a lot lately and really love them. They are sturdy, comfortable, and only $35!! Such a great spring shoe!
- Cast Iron Perfect Pot from my Mother’s Day Gift Guide!
1. Community Group Candlestick Painting
Last week April hosted Community Group and she planned the CUTEST activity for us! We painted candlesticks! I love having a craft/activity as part of our Community Group nights. It makes it even more fun.
2. Book Review: The Whispers by Ashley Audrain
Rating 4/5: Nothing better than when the last sentence of a book is explosive! This story is dark, gripping at times, and filled with scandal. If you liked The Push, you’ll like this book. It’s not quite as good as The Push, but it will not disappoint!
Book Summary: The Loverlys sit by the hospital bed of their young son who is in a coma after falling from his bedroom window in the middle of the night; his mother, Whitney, will not speak to anyone. Back home, their friends and neighbors are left in shock, each confronting their own role in the events that led up to what happened that terrible night: the warm, altruistic Parks who are the Loverlys’ best friends; the young, ambitious Goldsmiths who are struggling to start a family of their own; and the quiet, elderly Portuguese couple who care for their adult son with a developmental disability, and who pass the long days on the front porch, watching their neighbors go about their busy lives.
The story spins out over the course of one week, in the alternating voices of the women in each family as they are forced to face the secrets within the walls of their own homes, and the uncomfortable truths that connect them all to one another. Set against the heartwrenching drama of what will happen to Xavier, who hangs between death and life, or a life changed forever, THE WHISPERS is a novel about what happens when we put our needs ahead of our children’s. Exploring the quiet sacrifices of motherhood, the intuitions that we silence, the complexities of our closest friendships, and the danger of envy, this is a novel about the reverberations of life’s most difficult decisions.
3. The BEST Undies
Are on SALE!
For more than a decade, I only wore Hanky Panky underwear. And then I discovered the Almost Bare line from Soma and oh my gosh they are the most comfortable EVER. No lines. Lightweight. Breathable fabric. Stay in place.
I’ve written blog posts about them and put them on gift guides. They are truly incredible.
4. Marcellino & Tyson Masters Party
Last week Matt’s firm held their annual Masters Party at Trolley Barn! I loved this new venue (really great food, drinks, and overall vibe) and they had a great turnout! Another successful party for Marcellino & Tyson!
5. Indoor Fly Trap
This little gadget is BACK on our counter top collecting ALL the flies my kids continue to invite inside by not closing our doors!
The instructions say to run the trap at night (so the flies can see the UV light) for 3 days in a row. The trap is quiet (there isn’t a zapper like the outdoor ones) and there’s a fan on top that sucks the flies in and a sticky glue board traps it. We’ve run it the past few nights and while the flies aren’t completely gone, there are SIGNIFICANTLY less and I’m thinking we’ll be totally rid of these annoying flies within the next day or so. Anyway, if you’ve ever battled fruit flies, I cannot recommend this enough. It’s got 91K Amazon reviews too.
