Weekend Rewind | August 2019

I don’t normally get excited for Mondays, but after 5 days with Matt away on his annual golf trip we are ALL so happy to have him home today (well, technically he made it home in the middle of last night). While he was golfing his heart out in beautiful Telluride with his 3 best friends, we were having fun too. Here are some weekend highlights…

Friday night I offered to take the kids out to dinner wherever they wanted but they said they wanted to relax at home so we ordered pizza and watched a movie while I tackled loads and loads of laundry.

Saturday we celebrated Thomas’s friend Maggie’s 4th birthday at the pool which was a blast. Afterwards we knocked out our grocery shopping then ran to Walmart to grab Caroline’s school supplies. I’ve been looking forward to this errand all summer and absolutely could not wait to make memories checking off all the items on the list with Caroline. Well, let me just say…from here on out we will be ordering all of our supplies from Amazon or picking them up months in advance. What a nightmare it was to rifle through disorganized, picked through shelves with 20 other people trying to find Laddie #2 pencils (11/32″). Lesson learned. Never again.

Sunday I made the kids French toast for breakfast and then we loaded up our bikes and went to Freedom Park to feed the ducks and play on the playground. That outing ended abruptly when Caroline somehow ran over her own foot with her bike so we came back home and relaxed before heading to another friend named Maggie’s birthday party — a cooking class at Flour Power. The kids made mac & cheese and cookies. It was adorable and such a fun party.

Hopefully your school will offer supply packs for purchase next year. They're usually a tad bit pricier than picking up the supplies on your own, but they get delivered to the school for you, include everything from the teacher's list, and work as a fundraiser for the school. Definitely ask at the end of this school year because they usually send out the order forms to be completed in the spring for the following year. I hope Caroline has a wonderful year of kindergarten!

Just curious if you ever got a new camera and if so what you bought. I was interested in this when you posted back awhile back.

Have you tried Office Max, Office Depot, or Staples? So much choice for stationary supplies.
