We had a great weekend that was both busy and relaxing!
Let’s rewind it!
Friday
Friday evening we went to the school carnival where the kids had an absolute blast sprinting around the field with their friends, eating cotton candy, and racing each other in lots of inflatable obstacle courses. It was organized chaos, and thankfully we did NOT come home with ANY goldfish this time — especially because we still have Rainbow with us. Caroline did win a massive cake from the cake walk station though!
After the carnival, we all changed into pajamas and headed down the street to our friend’s house — with margaritas and our massive cake in tow. While the kids watched the new Super Mario Brothers movie (which they said was really good!), McKinsey and I taught Matt and Bobby how to play mahjong!! It was SO fun and I couldn’t believe how fast the guys picked it up!
Saturday
Saturday morning we had a quick photoshoot in our backyard with my friend Taylor for a really cool campaign I’m working on right now.
Afterward, we dropped Caroline off at a cheer clinic! She’s been asking to try cheerleading so I signed her up for a clinic to see if she liked it — and she did!
While Caroline was learning some new stunts, Matt and Thomas hit some golf balls together. And then we all got to watch her skills showcase at the end of the clinic which was so cute.
We also had a big project happening all day at our house on Saturday — our pantry was installed! I cannot even describe just how happy I am to finally have a place for every can, countertop appliance, packaged snack, backpacks, and SHOES. I may share more about this space in another post but we decided to convert the laundry room to a pantry since it’s right off the kitchen and garage. And we designed it with a local closet company to include a wish list of things — countertop space, lots of pull-out drawers, a drop zone for shoes and backpacks…and a dog bowl station. 🙂
It’s not quite finished (we are waiting on a few more back-ordered pieces to get installed) but I cannot believe the transformation of this space so far. It took us months to finalize this pantry (I tweaked the design a million times to make sure this space is as functional as possible for our family) and it was totally worth the wait and revisions.
Saturday evening we were invited to Osteria LuCa for dinner and it was so delicious. The cocktails, ambiance, and food were all top-notch — AND they have amazing gluten-free bread, pizza, and pasta!
I wanted to share my dress for dinner because it’s a Target find that I am planning to live in all summer. It’s cute, casual (but can be dressed up), and comfortable — oh and it has pockets. It’s only $28 and comes in several colors!
After dinner, we cuddled up on the couch for a million rounds of Genius Square and Family Movie Night! Caroline and I cannot get enough of this game still!
Sunday
Sunday we had a SNOOZE DAY!!! We have all been really looking forward to a full day at home and it was SO nice to have nothing scheduled. It was a great day that was both productive and relaxing.
Caroline and her girlfriend next door whipped up some delicious s’mores treats and played outside. Thomas and his friend next door played football and video games. Matt got some work done, played some mahjong with me, watched golf, and grilled us some burgers. And I was ecstatic to work on my new pantry!
And that was a wrap on the weekend!

Can’t wait to see the pantry. We are adding onto our house to add a pantry and laundry/drop off zone and I need all the inspiration. And I totally trust your design and though process.

Seriously, that pantry makes me swoon! I don’t have one in my 1960’s house so I’m super jealous!

Your blog is one of the only ones I check every weekday. :) I love the new pantry and can’t wait for a future post on it. I was wondering what age you started Thomas golfing? Did he take a class to first start? My son is interested, but I don’t know any other kids that play.

Love the pantry. Where did you put the laundry room?

We moved it upstairs next to all the bedrooms!
