I must say, these heart cookies are super addicting. Anytime there is a combination of peanut butter and chocolate, I lose all willpower to have just one.  I think these may just have to be a Valentine’s tradition in our home.

Ingredients

  • 1 box of Betty Crocker peanut butter cookie mix (or any other peanut butter cookie mix you prefer)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (or butter for a richer taste)
  • 1 tablespoon water (or you can use milk for a creamier dough)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 36 heart-shaped milk chocolate candies (or any other type of chocolate you like, such as dark or white chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir the cookie mix, oil, water, and egg together until a dough forms.
  3. Shape the dough into 36 (1-inch) balls and roll each one in sugar.
  4. Place the dough balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  5. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the cookies are light golden brown.
  6. Immediately press a heart-shaped chocolate candy into the top of each cookie.
  7. Remove the cookies from the cookie sheets and place them on cooling racks. Let them cool completely, about 20 minutes, before storing in an airtight container.
