Five on Friday!

Hello Friday! I am so excited for a great weekend ahead! On the books for this weekend…Food Truck Friday with a bunch of friends, a visit to our neighborhood farmer’s market, Caroline’s best friend’s 2nd birthday party, a play date and more!

one. Earlier this week we took the kiddos up to see daddy’s new office! Marcellino & Tyson is now officially open for business in Dilworth! I could not be more proud of Matt and Bryan for outgrowing their last office. They now have 4 attorneys, 2 paralegals, excellent support staff and big plans to continue expanding! It’s been so exciting watching them grow.

two. On Monday night I flew home to see my dad for a few days. My sister came over too and it was so good for us to spend time with him while also constantly nagging him to follow the doctor’s orders. He was so shocked and happy that I surprised him and I think it was exactly what he needed.

Just a few days before Christmas dad came down with a serious cold and was hospitalizedfor several weeks after developing an infection.Mom had begun preparing our family Christmas dinner but threw it in the freezer once dad was sent to the hospital. None of us were interested in eating without him. Well, while I was home mom thawed our Christmas dinner and we finally got to enjoy it as a family!

One quick picture before I flew back home!

three. We’ve had some really exciting visitors at our house — CATERPILLARS! Caroline received a Butterfly Garden Growing Kit for her birthday and for the past week we’ve been watching the butterfly metamorphosis! Caroline’s class just recently released their class butterflies so she’s totally in to having her own garden to supervise and name.

four.  Ever since my minis came along I’ve had a hard time finding a bible study. Most of my mama friends stay at home and attend a bible study together on Tuesday right in the middle of the morning, an impossible time for me to break away from work on a weekly basis. So when my friend Lisa sent me an invitation to join The Husband Project, an online 21 day study from Proverbs31 Ministries, I was really excited, signed up and purchased my book! The study kicks off June 20 and I’m inviting anyone looking to bless their husband and their marriage to join me!

I think it’s pretty obvious I am a sucker for bible studies focused on marriage. I haven’t read this book yet but I have read (and blogged about) many others over the years. Here are a few of my favorite studies to do independently, in groups or with your husband:

What’s It Like to Be Married to Me? And Other Dangerous Questions by Linda Dillow. I am halfway through this book right now and woah, woah, woah. One night over Supper Club my girlfriends were raving about just starting this book for their new study and I ordered it right away to see what all the hype was about and join in on the conversation. This book will change you and ultimately your marriage. But be prepared to think about some tough questions!

The Meaning of Marriage by Timothy Keller. I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who is married (newly or decades in), engaged or wants to get married in the future! I also love to give this book to my friends as an engagement gift.

The DNA of Relationships by Gary Smalley: This was the first study Matt and I did together in our married bible study right after we got hitched. We learned so much about each other through this study.

The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman: A must-read for ALL couples regardless of where you are in your relationship! I promise this will change your approach for showing and receiving love.

Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge: Every woman should read this book but I highly recommend it for women who are single, divorced or broken hearted. This was my family study I did before I met Matt.  I also highly recommend reading the men’s version afterwards – Wild at Heart.

For Women Only by Shaunti Feldhahn: there were parts of this study I disliked or didn’t agree with but still really enjoyed it overall. This is perfect for a women’s group study or independently.

five. A cute little snap from our most recent Trader Joes run to stock up on wine, cheese and pouches!

And I’ll leave you with this adorable clip! Since there are two Caroline’s in the young toddler class they both go by their last names. So all of Caroline’s friends and classmates at school have been calling her “Marcellino” all year. I can’t get enough of listening to her say her name. Cracks me up.

Happy weekend friends!
