For Spring Break this year, we spent a few days down in Florida at one of our favorite family beach destinations — Amelia Island!
We have previously spent Caroline’s spring break at this magical Omni resort and were so excited to celebrate Thomas’s first spring break here too! This destination is just so easy for us — it’s a half day drive (only 5.5 hours from Charlotte), offers a gorgeous beach and amazing pool, delicious food, kid activities, golf carts and so much more.
And this was an extra special and extra fun vacation because we went with Thomas and Caroline’s best friends — Henry and Grace! The girls became fast best friends in Kindergarten and have been lucky enough to be placed in the same first and second grade classes too. So we were ecstatic when Henry and Thomas were assigned the same Kindergarten class this year and became best friends just as quickly as the girls. All the kids ride the bus together and are in extracurricular activities together too (chess club for boys and jazz, tap and ballet classes for the girls)…so all 4 are used to spending lots of time together, making this trip an absolute blast for all — parents included!
Not surprisingly, the kids wanted to spend most of their time at the pool. We did drag them down to the beach a few times but the pool was their favorite place (probably because of the access to strawberry daiquiris).
I am still dreaming about the delicious poolside fish tacos!
During our past 2 stays at the Omni, the Kids Club was closed, so the kids were ecstatic when we learned it would be open for Spring Break! We signed them up for a few hours one morning to give the dads’ shoulders a break from launching kids into the pool and they had an absolute blast. While the parents got to hang at the adults-only pool for a few hours, we spotted the kids several times running around the resort in pirate hats and eye patches on a treasure hunt! It was seriously so adorable to see them in costume as they shoveled jewels into mini treasure boxes they painted.
The kids were utterly exhausted after a full day of sun each day so we canceled most of our dinner reservations and instead hung out at each other’s hotel rooms so the boys could play Nintendo and the girls could watch a movie while the parents hung out on the balcony.
My very fancy snack board I assembled for our night to host — flamin hot cheetos, mini muffins, pirates booty, berries, an assortment of Easter candy and pizza! Turns out this random assortment was a huge hit for a late night snack.
The trip flew by too fast and before we knew it we were returning our golf cart and packing our bags. It was truly an unforgettable getaway with friends and I will treasure all of the memories we made together!

Love Amelia Island!! And saw this sweet crew (dads and kids) playing mini golf one evening. Caroline offered a helpful tip to my girls about one of the games by the mini golf area. You could tell they were having a blast!
