Five on Friday

Happy Friday!

It was another 4 day FREEZING week for us. I looked at the calendar earlier this week and realized our kids don’t have a full week of school the entire month of January between holidays, rain days, and teacher work days!

In case you missed it this week, here’s what I shared on the blog…

On deck this weekend…

Tonight I’m hosting a few of my neighborhood girlfriends for MAHJ + MARTINIS while all our kids (12 of them!) eat pizza and hang out. The dads are headed to a concert together. Tomorrow we’ve got another line-up of 3 basketball games, church on Sunday, and we’re hosting some play dates for both kids in between. It should be a great weekend!

This Week’s Top 5 Reader Favorites

  1. The Walmart Blanket!! See #3!
  2. Moisturizing Fuzzy Sleep Socks: One of my favorite stocking stuffers from Matt, these moisturizing sleep socks are AWESOME. My feet get SO dry during the winter months and not only do these work, they are super cozy too! The inner gel lining contains Vitamin E, Olive oil, and jojoba seed oil to hydrate cracked heels. And the breathable toeless design allows me to sleep in them without getting hot.
  3. Fringe Trim Sweater: On sale!
  4. Triple Storage Bin: From my garage makeover post, this is the best storage system for organizing all the sports equipment in our garage.
  5. Felt Tip Pens: My favorite pens for color coding everything in my life. These pens have a very fine tip, come in a pack of 10, and are less than $5!!!

1. Meal Plan

This week our favorite meal was definitely Half Baked Harvest’s White Chicken Chili Bake! Oh my gosh, it was a HUGE hit even with my pickiest family member. The only adaptions I made was omitting the jalapeño and poblano peppers to keep the spiciness down, and I chose not to include beans since I packed it out with a lot of chicken! Anyway, highly recommend this recipe!!

Also, I have received SO much great feedback from y’all on not only the weekly meal plan I’ve been sharing on Instagram, but also the ones YOU have been sharing too! It seems all of us like a little dinner inspo!

2. January Mahjong Supper Club

This week McKinsey hosted the Supper Club girls for a night of mahjong! We decided this year for the months we don’t have a dinner party lined up, we are filling in with a night of mahjong — in pajamas.

We’ve been playing together for over a year now and have so much fun. Everyone is really good. We can play fast. And we can multi-task chatting and sipping Paper Planes while playing (it took us awhile to get there)! We’ve also started putting cash on the line!

3. Mabel’s Recovery Onesie

I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who recommended the recovery onesie after Mabel got spayed last week! This little suit has been a game changer and is SO much better than the cone of shame. I’ve updated my Pet Supply Favorites List to include it! Available in lots of colors/prints.

4. The Walmart Blanket

I shared this viral, affordable, cozy knit throw in my Snooze Day reel earlier this week and y’all LOVED it! This blanket is suuuuuuper similar to the Barefoot Dreams blanket for a fraction of the cost (under $20)! Available in 6 colors.

5. Oven Cleaning

Last week I deep cleaned my Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro. This task was loooooong overdue. I’ve had this countertop appliance for a year and it was the first time I’ve given it a solid cleaning, so it required quite a bit of elbow grease.

Wire Racks/Basket: I made a paste with Bar Keepers Friend and soaked these for a few hours before giving them a good scrub — and they came out brand new!

Oven Interior: I coated the entire inside of the oven with Dawn Powerwash Spray and let it sit for an hour before scrubbing it over and over and over again. Matt said he noticed a HUGE difference, but for as much time as I spent on it I wanted it to look brand new. I was able to mostly degrease the walls and the window looks awesome, but the heating elements were really hard to fully shine up.

Here’s a before and after of the window!

And when I shared this one Instagram, the messages flooded in with “You should have used EASY OFF OVEN CLEANER!!!!!” So I bought a can and plan to use it next time…which hopefully will not be in another year.

Happy Weekend, friends!
