Watermelon Margarita Pitcher Recipe

This watermelon margarita pitcher recipe is the perfect cocktail for summertime gatherings in the backyard, by the pool, or at the beach! This refreshing cocktail is made with only 5 ingredients including delicious fresh watermelon juice and fresh pressed lime juice.

Watermelon Margarita Ingredients

  • Tequila: Use your favorite tequila for this recipe! My favorite brand for margaritas is Tres Agaves Blanco Tequila. It’s 100% pure agave, clean (additive-free), and has a balanced and smooth taste. It is one of the most awarded super-premium Tequilas on the market and is a solid value — a 750 ml bottle is priced around $30.
  • Cointreau: You can use Triple Sec if you really want to, but Cointreau is my orange liqueur preferance as it offers a more balanced, well-rounded flavor.
  • Lime Juice: Must be fresh. Trust me. The juice is worth the squeeze.
  • Watermelon Juice: Dice up a fresh, juicy watermelon, blend it in a blender, then run it through a strainer (optional). This is going to result in liquid gold — it’s so fresh and delicious.
  • Agave Nectar: You can also use honey or simple syrup if you prefer, but light agave nectar, or agave syrup, is a natural sweetener that really compliments the lime juice. Currently, I’m using Madhava Organic Amber Agave, a clean, simple, and organic option.

Watermelon Margarita Tips & Tools

  • Citrus Juicer: If you squeeze citrus often, this juicer is the most valuable gadget ever. It features a pressure-activated, auto-reversing juicing cone which is super effective at maximizing juice extraction. The pulp strainer is adjustable to your pulp preference, the parts are dishwasher safe, and the container has easy-to-read measurement markings.
  • Blender: Does not need to be fancy. Any blender will do.
  • Strainer: Make sure it’s a fine mesh strainer so it catches the seeds and any large pieces.
  • Pitcher: Make sure to bring a pitcher with a good lid that seals tight so you can shake your cocktail before serving!
  • Travel Tips: For our recent beach vacation, I prepped the watermelon juice and the lime juice in separate containers ahead of time so I could leave my blender at home.
