Five on Friday!

Happy Friday, friends!

 - ONE - Today I am counting down the minutes until my bestie, May, arrives in Charlotte for the weekend! Even though this will be much different from her last visit {post here}, I am so excited for a low key weekend of catching up with her. I am also excited about sneaking away with her for a few hours while Matt watches the babe for the first time!
- TWO - It's amazing how quickly Matt and I can make huge decisions these days when you have less than two hours at a time to get as much done as humanly possible and your brain can't function properly. On Sunday we woke up and I had to immediately strip our sheets and wash 2 pairs of jammies, the boppy and 7 burp cloths all from one night of co-sleeping (Don't judge, but if you do, don't post mean comments. We are in survival mode.). Long story short, I flipped out over our teeny tiny washer (for the millionth time since moving into our house). Our awful dorm-size, stackable washer/dryer has sent me into countless tantrums after ruining so many necessities (ie: my Bump Nest pillow and now, the Boppy). I came screaming out of the laundry room about how I don't have time to hand wash large items like comforters, pillows, etc. and Matt immediately went online, compared sales, read some reviews and picked out a new washer/dryer set. Gosh, I love him. Within the hour, we selected a Samsung set, visited Home Depot to purchase it and sold our current set to Craig's List.
And because we were on a roll for big decisions and Caroline was still soundly sleeping in the k'tan, we drove down the street and purchased two pairs of reading glasses for Matt. Matt has been holding on to his current eyeglasses for over 10 years and we picked out two new pairs in 30 minutes.
Disclaimer: He thought this photo was being taken for his mom.
So there - we have this new ability to make incredibly impulsive decisions these days. I'm sure the first time we get 4 hours of sleep we'll wake up and realize what we've done.

- THREE - Y'all know how much of a mascara junkie I am. Well, I was recently contacted by Younique, a line of naturally-based makeup and skincare products, to try out their best selling product, 3D Fiber Lashes. This product promises to dramatically enhance and magnify the appearance of your own lashes and is easy to use, organic, chemical free, gluten free and hypoallergenic. The simple three-step process combines Transplanting Gel and Natural Fibers to help create the appearance of incredible thickness and volume to your existing lashes. The 3D Fiber Lashes are water resistant but easily washes off with warm water and facial cleanser at the end of the day.
I tried it, loved it and wanted to share it with you!! Want the chance to win a set of fiber lashes? Enter the rafflecopter giveaway below!

- FOUR - A few weeks ago I found Matt in the kitchen playing with my washi tape. He was busy creating a label system (using various colors and patterns of washi tape) for breast milk and formula bottles. I couldn't help but laugh and get excited all at the same time. I immediately joined in on the fun and the system has been working out pretty awesome.
- FIVE - Of course, we can't kick off the weekend without a weekly dose of our little munchkin, who we've lovingly started referring to as "Baby Koala" since she must be attached to Matt or me at all time. Is there anything more scrumptious than baby feet?!

  2. Baby Koala...I love it! Priceless. Also - girl, we had that EXACT tiny washer dryer when we lived in CLT. Getting one load in that thing is like 3-4 loads in a normal washer dryer. I completely feel you!!! YAY for the new one! xx

  5. Your story about the washer and dryer was hilarious! Although, I'm sure you didn't find anything about that situation funny at the time, but it gave me a good laugh. "Happy wife=happy life!" I love the front loading washer and dryer.

  6. I think with just 4 hours of sleep you'll both be happy about the new washer!

  7. I'd be a much happier wife with the new washer dryer set too. Congrats ;)

The disclaimer about Matt's photo made me lol.

  8. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about co sleeping! Especially when you plan to do it and know how to do it right, it is perfectly safe! It is how our family got the most sleep usually, and it is great & easy for breastfeeding! You're doing an awesome job Mama!

  14. Love the washi tape idea. It's genius! Hooray for a new washer/dryer, always makes the day better!! Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

  15. I totally feel your pain on the washer and dryer. We had one almost identical to the yours and I couldn't even wash a weeks worth of towels in it and it took forever to dry! We replaced ours with a new stack-able a few months ago and it made laundry so much easier. Sometimes impulsive decisions are bad but sometimes they just make life much more pleasant :) Love the idea with the washi tape too!

  16. We don't have kids (yet!) but I love when you have a big life change and can work together as a team with your spouse. Glad you were able to get a new w+d and sell the old ones in no time! :)

  17. Dont' feel badly about the co-sleeping! I have a 4.5 month old who is now sleeping in her crib, but for those first SEVERAL weeks, she had reflux AND lip and tongue ties (which made feeding difficult) and the only way any of us could get any sleep was to allow her to sleep on our chests while we were propped sitting up in bed. Not ideal, but you do what you have to do when you are in survival mode!!! You should, of course, do whatever is best for your family, but if you are interested in some helpful nighttime sleep advice I would highly suggest the "Moms on Call" book. I took the advice that worked for our family and left out others (for example, we didn't do any "cry it out" because I'm a sissy and can't stand to hear her cry). BUT, many of their techniques, like the special swaddle and the white noise worked wonders for our fussy sleeper!!! Hang in there - you are doing a GREAT job :)

  20. Loving your washi tape, bottle system!! How is the feeding and pumping going mama? You are always on my mind - especially at 3am :) Although with our time differences, my midnight feeds would be your day time x

  21. I have major washer and dryer envy right now! Ours isn't really that bad, but I am wanting something a little larger. And I am right there with you in the just surviving. Caroline goes down in her pack-in-play, but by her 3am feeding she is in the bed with us, getting the best sleep of the night. Do what you have to do momnma!! :)

  22. That mascara looks interesting!! And those baby feet are just so adorable!
I just linked up with you for the first time! I'm a new blogger! :-)

  23. I won't even admit how many occasions my son has co-slept with us. Certainly more than I ever thought before becoming a mom, when I said I'd never let that happen. Ha! No judgment here, sweet girl. You're doing a great job. And congrats on the new washer and dryer! :)

  24. This is the perfect Five on Friday Mommy Post! You guys are doing a great job, keep it up! And baby feet are the cutest! Have a great weekend! :)

  25. That washer/dryer is a major upgrade!! I hate those tiny little "dorm washers" - as you so perfectly put it. Pretty funny that you guys just up and went and did it. But HOORAY!!!

    Have a great weekend!

  26. Yay for a new washer/dryer! We had one that came with our rental but the washer broke about two years ago. Our landlord said we had to replace it (but obviously could take it with us when we leave) Thankfully I convinced my husband we needed a complete set so we went with the LG frontloaders. I love them still!

  27. haha, your number four is pretty much the best thing ever!

  28. The "impulsive decisions" bit is the funniest thing ever! (Although yay for a new washer/dryer anytime!) And yay for upcoming girl time for you :)

  29. Aww don't worry about co-sleeping! My husband and I co-slept with our daughter for two months, and when she just started sleeping through the night and we promptly moved her to her own space for night time sleeping so that we could sleep like normal We still of course have morning time snuggles on the weekends so we can sleep in a little more.

  30. Baby toes are the best. I am forever taking photos of my daughters feet, my husband doesn't understand my obsession!
We co-sleep with our daughter and when our son was little we did the same with him. The first year is all about survival! You do what you need to do to get some sleep!

  31. I had to laugh because my boon lawn looks EXACTLY the same on my counter, soothers, dr brown bottles and nipple shields as well!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Aw it sounds like you are a great team together! We have the same washer/dryer now (your old one). I see a meltdown in my future :P It's ripped my clothes!

    ReplyDelete
  33. We co-slept for about a month when we were in survival mode too from about 2 to 3m old. It was the only way we could get her to sleep without freaking out. Just be safe about it and soon enough you'll be able to transition her to sleeping alone! :)

  34. Co-sleeping is the only reason I'm not a sleepless wreck. It's a shame we're made to feel bad about it - I think more people do it than let on. Caroline is precious.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love baby feet too and her cute little diaper cover with her hiney in the air - too precious! I can empathise on the laundry issues. There's so much to do in any one day without having to struggle with things like that. Enjoy your bestie. Thanks for the giveaway Christina

  36. Husband of the year for the washing machine/dryer combination upgrade in record time. That's love right there. That and baby feet. :)

  37. Cheers to Super Husband for getting the new washer and dryer.. I don't know how you made it through a whole pregnancy without getting a new one though-- I would have been in high gear expecting to be washing Little Misses outfits and such!

  38. I used Dr. Brown's with my son too! Love, love, love them!
